Post From: Questions about connecting to Sierra Real Time Data and trading through Interactive Brokers

Hello, I set up an account with IB and have sent in funds. In my IB account it says the funds will be available for trading on the 11th. The entire amount required is not there yet, the remainder will be sent this weekend. I’m mentioning that in case that has something to do with question 4 since Comex requires a funded trading account to get the reduced data rate.

I downloaded TWS desktop and have set the Data/Trade Service Settings according to the instructions in your online user guide. I also selected and activated the Comex exchange data for $5.25 a month.

I have a few questions:

1. In the Data/Trade Service Settings window I selected Interactive Brokers (trading). Is the only way that I know that I’m receiving Sierra real time data and not Interactive Brokers’ data is through the checkbox that is enabled for “Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds?”

Is there any other way to verify that I’m not getting IB data sent to my charts? I read on your site that IB data can be problematic and that’s why I chose to pay extra for Sierra’s data.

2. In the latest version of IB’s TWS there is a checkbox for “Use negative numbers to bind automatic orders.”

In your image in the instructions that line was not included. It was checked by default from IB, should I leave it that way?

--------------------------------

3. In your user guide image under Trusted IP Addresses you wrote 127.0.0.1. In the new version of TWS there is a checkbox for “Allow connections from local host only” I had to uncheck that to be able to use the Create button and add 127.0.0.1 to the Trusted IP Addresses list box. Was that correct?

--------------------------------

4. After completing all that, for some reason I’m not getting real time data for the Comex symbol GCQ17. I do get USDX real time data though which is not part of Comex. Is there something I’m not doing to enable that to work correctly.

In my Account Control section the following was written (copied below) I chose the first link, Market Data Agreement, and signed it, it said to reload the page after completing “one” of the above agreements, so I didn’t complete the second one.

To update the following, you will need to re-sign the agreements.
Professional Status: Non-Professional
Is Approved for CME Group Exchange Fee for nonprofessional Trading Accounts: Yes
Agreement Links
Market Data Agreement (Opens a new page)
Market Data Agreement (With US Equities Agreement) (Opens a new page)
Reload this page after completing one of the above agreements.

Thanks for your help.
