No, the port number does not need to be specified.

We can set up, a real-time relay for CME data on one of our servers in Germany but just be aware, if that server loses connectivity to our servers back in the US, then you will lose connectivity as well until that connectivity is restored. Normally this will not happen but it could happen and the connectivity could be lost for 30 seconds or so. This is generally the reason why we do not do it because it is just another intermediate connection that most often does not really help.

We will work on that next week.

@SC: No need to work on this - it was just an idea to eliminate peering issues for European clients. Not sure if the time you invest is worth it...

We did set up a real-time relay, in Germany for CME data. The server is DS14-2.sierracharts.com. This is for real-time data and not historical data.

We recommend only using it, if needed.

I can't check its ping to compare...

It is not possible to ping the server. The network does not allow it.

So, how can we know if this solution is better or not? How should we compare?

If you are in Europe and you are having connectivity issues, then we would recommend using this particular server and see if it resolves the issue.

I made a comparison.
I opened 2 naked DOM on 2 installations of SC, one with the german server, and one with direct connection to Michigan.

I made a video of both to compare frame by frame.
From France, the Michigan server is always a couple or so of frames faster than the german one. Each frame is 1/60th of a second, but still, the Michigan one always ticks up or down before the German one.
