Hi all, I'm not a techy guy. Can someone bullet point the steps for running Sierra Chart through Whisky on a Mac? Including which Sierra Chart software to download (I've noticed there look to be 3, 1 normal and 2 'mirror'), what to do when you have downloaded whisky (i.e., I can see there are loads of settins/options and I've no clue [should I select windows 11? etc), and how you correctly use whisky to open the sierra c downloader within it's software. I've downloaded a sierra chart software downloader, downloaded whisky, and tried oppeing the sierra chart downloader within it but it keeps failing. I have a macbook with m1 max chip and 64 gb of ram (don't know if that's useful to know lol). Thanks! |

In that case, I recommend an easier method, tested on a Mac M4 Mini. This is not the only way you can put Sierra Chart on an Apple Silicon Mac, but it is one of the easiest. 1. Download and install VMWare Fusion Pro for Mac: https://www.vmware.com/products/desktop-hypervisor/workstation-and-fusion 2. Create a New VM. On the Select Installation window, Select Get Windows from Microsoft 3. Download the ARM version of Windows 11 Pro. Click the Memory settings, and give the VM as much memory as it lets you without a warning if you have limited RAM. I have the basic 16 GB Mac Mini, and I got it down to 4 GB for the Mac, and 12 GB to the VM. 4. Complete the Windows installation and say no to all the optional stuff. 5. Login with your Microsoft account. Note: Install OneDrive (or another cloud-based drive) if you want to share files with other Windows systems. The files are not downloaded until you request them, so disk space isn't wasted. 6. Install Sierra Chart as you normally would on the Windows C: drive. 7. Run SierraChart_ARM64.exe for the best performance. |

I'm running SierraChart_ARM64 v.2747 on a Windows 11 ARM virtual machine installed in a free UTM Version 4.6.4 (allocated 16GB RAM and 200GB SSD) on a Mac Mini M4Pro 64GB RAM, 1TB and it's super stable and blazing fast, so far. I'm using a 32' 4K monitor, and when maximized, you wouldn't notice any difference compared to any real Windows 11 PC. I'm only using Sierra for charting though. I know there are other solutions available, some free, some paid (Parallels, VMWare Fusion Pro, Crossover) but UTM has been great so far and relatively easy to install. |
