We were just helping a user, who has been blaming, our software and systems, when they have an absolutely terrible Internet connection. They have been writing us numerous messages threatening to go to regulatory authorities, I hope they do and tell them how bad their Internet connection is. When the problem is there damn Internet connection! Sometimes you people need to understand it is your problem! Get a new Internet high quality Internet connection. And do not judge it based on the price and some brand name. Test it and verify. Get a high-performance router that can handle a high packet rate. Use wired Internet connectivity. Never never never never never Wi-Fi. Make sure all cable connections are good and secure. Get a good quality network adapter. From now on we are only using Nvidia network adapters. Not Intel like we used to use. A few weeks back we had someone in Illinois in the Naperville area, very close to the CME data center who had terrible Internet connectivity and had order routing problems in market data problems. This was/is due to their Internet connectivity. They switched brokers. Going from one broker to another still using Teton order routing and it did not solve the problem and the problem was there Internet connection. All along. One basic test you can do is run a ping test. You should see consistent time between pings. Not variable differences of 10 ms, 20 ms or 120 ms. And you should always be getting a response consistently without any lost packets. For example you can run a ping to: ds28.sierracharts.com This will be responded to by our network router. And it will be a consistent delay. A millisecond or two of variable latency is fine but it will be stable and there will be no lost packets. If you do see variable latency and lost packets, 99.9% of the time the problem is somewhere else and not with our systems. Yes sometimes the issue could be with our Internet connections or equipment but this is uncommon. Understand we are very busy working on development of Sierra Chart, and also doing hardware upgrades and a lot of other work. And when we are being persistently bothered by a problem that is your problem with the Internet and you refuse to believe us and give all kinds of irrelevant reasons as to why you do not believe us, and you send us so much text information, voice messages, complaining about the problem accusing us of not caring or being irresponsible and threatening to go to regulatory authorities, we are going to be very forceful and very clear and say this is your problem and you damn well better fix that now. Fix your Internet problem now! Fix your problems. Do not bother us with your problems! Do not waste our time! Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. What we need to know is what are good Internet providers, in different areas where people are located in the US. When there are Internet problems we do not know what to tell users based on their location. When we see packet loss, and we see variable latency there absolutely is a problem. For example, what are good Internet providers in the Naperville area of Illinois? What are good Internet providers, in Texas? One thing that we would say is that a fiber provider is going to be better than a provider, using a coaxial cable. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
