I’d like to be able to colour the bars to show small orders, where the average trade size within that bar is, say, less than 5 contracts, and then a different colour to show large trades where the average trade size is, say, more than 50 contracts. Is this possible using one of the standard colour bar studies? Thanks |

No. Quickly thinking about this, it seems rather involved to accomplish. It would require custom programming and that is not within the scope of our support. Okay thanks ~ I'll have a go to see if I can do this with a spreadsheet study.

This is not that difficult to do. Average trade size is easy to calculate using a tick chart (SC calls it a "number of trades per bar" chart). Each bar is a fixed number of trades you define, say 1000 as an example. Add a volume study. Your formula is then: volume / 1000. This is the average trade size. If you want to display this value on some other kind of chart, you use study/price overlay to move it to the target chart and then a color bar by alert condition on the target chart that references the study/price overlay study. I do this now and display average trade size above a certain threshold on range bar charts. regards, shane |
