All of this applies to chart replay only. I have not tried it live yet. My spreadsheet is designed to simply enter a trade. It has no exit rules. The attached order to exit is placed by using attached orders in the Trade Window. This works perfectly for long trades. But for short trades it does not work: - The spreadsheet enters the short position correctly - The Trade Window using attached orders immediately places the exit limit order. It is visible on the chart during replay and all looks normal and correct - Price hits the attached take profit limit order, and this is where things don't work: -- The attached take profit line vanishes from the chart as expected when it is hit by price -- The position remains short on the chart and in the Trade Activity Log. The position has not been closed. -- There is no message in the Trade Services Log -- I stop replay and click flatten in the Trade Window, but the position will not flatten. -- The ONLY way I can find to get rid of the position is to restart chart replay and answer yes when asked if I want to clear the trade history. There is definitively something you are misunderstanding or are doing incorrectly. There cannot possibly be a problem like this as presented. And there cannot be a problem like this either: -- I stop replay and click flatten in the Trade Window, but the position will not flatten.
The Flatten action will always send a market order to flatten/close the position.Refer to the Trade Activity Log to see what is happening with with the orders: Trade Activity Log: Viewing Historical Trade Activity Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. This was the cause: - In cell J27 I had a condition to cancel all orders. - The condition was when the take profit limit order was hit. I wanted to then cancel the remaining working stop loss order. - But the take profit limit order was being cancelled before it was being filled due to the rule in J27. I actually don't need J27, so I have removed it and now all works as expected. |
