Look at the attached, you will see same account with the the trade window open for both the DOM and Chart. You can see that they are very different Profit and Loss numbers. Can you explain why? I place all orders on the DOM columns. I also notice that when I just market order in and just click in the column, sometimes the entry price is different by up to a point sometimes. Is there a setting that makes sure that when I click on the DOM column to buy or sell that it gives me the best price when I click the column away from the best bid/offer? Or is there another setting that is causing this problem? Thank you for the help, |

Regarding the question for Profit/Loss, refer to: Help With Daily Profit/Loss Value There must be some different settings in Chart >> Chart Settings >> Trading for each chart. You cannot enter a market order, through the chart DOM columns: I also notice that when I just market order in and just click in the column
We do not understand this: Is there a setting that makes sure that when I click on the DOM column to buy or sell that it gives me the best price when I click the column away from the best bid/offer?
You can control the order type through the settings here: Global Trade Settings Windows: Chart DOM Settings And the price is going to depend upon the price level you left or right click at. So this is something you control. This is all very straightforward. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I am not entering on a chart DOM, I enter on your normal DOM. I also have a chart next to it set to the same account. So when entering orders on the normal DOM I can see the orders on a chart. So I can enter market orders on the DOM by clicking on the Buy column.

It does not matter if you are using a Trading DOM or the Chart DOM. In either case, the particular order that is put in depends on the column you clicking in, whether you are left or right clicking, and whether you are above or below the current price. The specific order you enter is defined in the "Trade >> Chart DOM Settings >> Order Types". You will see that there is no option for a general "Market" order, therefore it is not possible to enter a Market order by clicking on the DOM. Refer to the following: Global Trade Settings Windows: Order Types (Global Settings >> Chart DOM Settings) Given the above, the most likely scenario is that you are actually placing a "Limit" order either as a "Buy" above the current price or a "Sell" below the current price. In this case, since the current price is more favorable, you will automatically be filled at the market price. So you are not really entering a Market order, but it is becoming one. Now, given the above, what you are also need to understand is that a Buy order is going to fill at the Best Ask price and a Sell order is going to fill at the Best Bid price. So you need to look at those values to see how your order is being filled. Okay I see you are correct there is no Market order. That answers my question to one possibility but still does not answer the original question why I have significantly different p&l showing on Sierra charts as per the original post with the link attached. Can you help me understand that. Thank you

Both Trade Windows are showing that there is no open orders for that symbol - assuming the charts are for the same symbol, which we can not see in the image. As to the Daily Profit/Loss that is showing, each chart could have a different value, depending on how you have the charts setup for handling the trades. All of the information you need is in the following link: Help With Daily Profit/Loss Value You will need to look at each chart individually and see how they are setup and how you end up with the particular values.
