Using the Cumulative Sum of Study on the Volume study in a spreadsheet. Column AD provides the sum I want to put on a chart as a custom study. When I put the formula in column K (Draw Style: Line) referencing the cells in column AD, the column K results are correct but the Line does not appear on the chart. As well, the column K formulas have disappeared when I come back to the spreadsheet.

The Formula Source Sheet is #1 (from D1 on Sheet20) for a Spreadsheet Study opened on Chart 20, so the chart data appears on Sheet20. When I input the formula below to cell K3 on Sheet1 I get the #NAME? spreadsheet error. When I input the formula below to cell K3 on Sheet20 I do not get the #NAME? error but the formula disappears when the spreadsheet updates. =SUM(ID2.SG1@3+ID2.SG1@17+ID2.SG1@31+ID2.SG1@45+ID2.SG1@59+ID2.SG1@73+ID2.SG1@87+ID2.SG1@101+ID2.SG1@115+ID2.SG1@129+ID2.SG1@143+ID2.SG1@157+ID2.SG1@171+ID2.SG1@185+ID2.SG1@199+ID2.SG1@213+ID2.SG1@227+ID2.SG1@241+ID2.SG1@255+ID2.SG1@269+ID2.SG1@283+ID2.SG1@297+ID2.SG1@311+ID2.SG1@325+ID2.SG1@339+ID2.SG1@353+ID2.SG1@367+ID2.SG1@381+ID2.SG1@395+ID2.SG1@409+ID2.SG1@423+ID2.SG1@437+ID2.SG1@451+ID2.SG1@465+ID2.SG1@479+ID2.SG1@493+ID2.SG1@507+ID2.SG1@521+ID2.SG1@535+ID2.SG1@549+ID2.SG1@563+ID2.SG1@577+ID2.SG1@591+ID2.SG1@605+ID2.SG1@619+ID2.SG1@633+ID2.SG1@647+ID2.SG1@661+ID2.SG1@675+ID2.SG1@689)/50 |

Changed all the ID2.SG1@ entries in the formula above to AD (which is the column of the study I want to reference in Sheet20) and the Spreadsheet Study Custom Indicator shows on the Chart as desired. I understand the benefit of using the ID2.SG1@ format to reference columns in Spreadsheet Studies. Is this format available now? If yes, what was I doing wrong in post #3 above? Thanks! |

I've been having similar issues with spreadsheets as well. A quote board that I created years ago is a total mess now. Chart output data is being sent to wrong sheet #. Please advise.

We need more information about the problem. It is far from clear. You make mention of a Quote Board and then you talk about chart output data. Are you using the Spreadsheet Study? Each instrument listed on quote board(see image) has a separate daily chart with "spreadsheet study." That Data then is sent to a spreadsheet that then feeds the Quote Board spreadsheet. Very simple. A few days ago for reasons I am not sure of, data started to be sent to the wrong sheet # thus my Quote Board spreadsheet data was all wrong.

We apologize for the late reply on this. We think this has to do with adding and deleting Sheets and affecting references to existing Sheets. This is thoroughly documented in this section here: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SpreadsheetStudyInputs.html#OutputSheetNumber Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. I can take an existing chart and insert the name of a new spreadsheet. A new spreadsheet opens up. There is only 1 chart writing to this spreadsheet. I enter the value 1 in Column O3 I enter a formula in P3 that says =O3 Both cells go empty right away. sc v1187 (new spreadsheets) How I got here: I started with 1 chart and 1 spreadsheet that was working well and duplicated it 5 times for different symbols. Then I modified the spreadsheet names for the duplicated 5 charts. End result: 1 chartbook with 6 charts referencing 6 uniquely named spreadsheets. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-09-11 11:57:41

It sounds like the Formula Source Sheet Number input with the Spreadsheet study is not set correctly.
