Hi there,

There probably is a simple way to do this, but I can't find it. I'm looking to automatically draw the previous session's VWAP (however the session is defined based on session start time in chart settings) as a continuous VWAP anchored to the previous session's start time. I know how to do automatically draw the previous session's _closing_ VWAP as a single value / horizontal line, but not the rolling VWAP from the previous session's start, which would then reset the next day to today's VWAP when today becomes the previous session. Thank you!

We are not fully understanding what you want to do.

If you are wanting to display the previous sessions VWAP on the current sessions bars, then the simplest way to do this is to use the "Displacement" option for the subgraph and set it to be the number of bars that make up the session for your chart. For instance, for 1 hour bars for an instrument traded on the CME Group (which has 23 hours in a trading day) you would set the displacement to be '23'.

You just have to be careful with the above, as if you using it with a not very liquid instrument, you may want to turn on the option for "Include Columns with No Data".

Otherwise, you would need to use the Spreadsheet Study and check the times and then look back by 1 day.

Sorry if the question wasn't clear. All I'm trying to do is to draw a VWAP from one session ago and have it reset to one session ago again when the next session starts. For example, let's say it's VWAP on ES and we want the full-session. That would be anchored at Globex start 18:00 Eastern time. Today is 9/30/24, so today's full-session VWAP started at 18:00 yesterday (Sunday 9/29). When the market opens tomorrow, 10/1/24, I'd like to draw today's ETH VWAP (the one that started on 18:00 ET on 9/29). Not as a horizontal line at a specific value, but continuous VWAP anchored at that time. I can easily accomplish that by using the anchored VWAP study, of course, but rather than moving the anchor every day, I'd like to have it automatically reset such that when the 10/02 session starts, the 2-session VWAP automatically moves to being anchored off 18:00 ET on 10/01. Thank you.

So you are wanting a 2-day VWAP?

To do this, use the "Volume by Price" study and set the following:
- Draw Mode: POC, VAH, VAL, and VWAP Lines Only
- Volume Graph Period Type: One Period at End of Fixed Time Length Auto-Skip Empty Days
- Time Period type for 'Fixed Time': Days
- Time Period Length for 'Fixed Time': 2

Then on the subgraphs tab, set the "Point Of Control", "Value Area High", and "Value Area Low" Draw Styles to "Ignore".

This will give you a 2 day VWAP anchored at the beginning of the Evening Session from 2 days ago.
