I am trying to replicate a "momentum tail" (to see where the price has moved in a very short amount of time) on the DOM using the VbP study. I have The "Volume Graph Period Type: One Period at End of Fixed Time Length" set to "2 Seconds", however it's not resetting as expected. Can you confirm the "Seconds" option in ln:34 is working correctly? If so, is there another setting that's causing it not to reset?

You would have to have a bar period of 2 seconds or less in order for this to work properly. Otherwise, the system does not have a way to cut the Volume by Price profile into a period that is less than the time length of a bar.

Just to clarify, I'm using the Trade DOM, not Chart DOM. So how would I reference the 2 second chart or does one just need to exist in my chartbook? (current chartbook has a 30 minute, 1000 volume, and 2000 volume)

Trade DOMs have the same settings as any other chart, as they are actually a chart. Therefore, you need to select "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Bar Period" and set the Bar Period for that Trade DOM to be 2 seconds or less.

Note that you might want to set this to 1 second or 500 milliseconds, as a 2 second bar would actually cause a reset at the beginning of each bar, whereas a lower timeframe will give the profile more of a rolling effect like you are wanting. You may want to play with this to see what works best. Just make sure whatever Bar Period you choose is evenly multipliable into 2 seconds (i.e. you can use 400 milliseconds, or 250 milliseconds, but not 300 milliseconds).

I didn't even think about the DOM having chart settings. I'll give this a try Monday.

As always, thank you John! Have a great weekend.
