What happened to Gann Swing Custom Study?

About a year(??) ago I added a Custom Study named "Gann Swing" which was then available from "Studies>>Add Custom Study". Fortunately I still have it on a few of my charts in one instance on one of my computers. It has but two(2) "Inputs": "Display Numbers" and/or "Paintbar?". On another instance/computer, when I open "Add Custom Studies", under the "G"'s, I only find "Gann Swing Oscillator", "Gann Trend Oscillator", and "Gann HiLo Activator". It appears the same three Studies are also available in the default "Studies Available". But, again, no "Gann Swing" Study. It is a most important graphic if one is also wishing to use the "Gann HiLo Activator". The other two oscillators do not seem to be synchronized with the actual "Gann Swing" w/ "Paint Bar" Input = Yes. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what they are trying to portray, in relation to the real "Gann Swing". Can anyone, including Sierra Support, tell me what happened to the basic "Gann Swing" Study?? I'm using SC Version 2576 64-bit on the computer/instance that still allows me to Add "Gann Swing" to any chart. Is the Study somehow "grandfathered" in my SC file? If so, could I copy and paste my "Custom Study" file from that instance to the other computer? |

The "Gann Swing" study is still available in the "User Contributed Studies". Make sure you are looking in the correct location. Select "Analysis >> Studies", then "Add Custom Study" and open the section for "User Contributed Studies". If you do not have a section for "User Contributed Studies", then the file named 'UserContributedStudies.dll' that should be located in your 'Data' folder under your main Sierra Chart installation, it not present. If the file is not there, then do an update to your software to the latest release. Even if you are on the latest release, the system will install any missing files, including this one. If, after the installation is finished, the file is still not there, then this would mean that your Anti-Virus software is removing it. You would need to create an exception in your anti-virus software to allow this file to not be scanned and removed. Thank you, John. I've checked my SC>Data files and the "User Contributed Studies_64" .dll is, in fact, present. One thing I also notice, however, is a second "User Contributed Studies" .dll file. Is the presence of that file (I'm assuming that perhaps it's an old "non"-64 bit version) perhaps creating or part of the problem? I DO have two instances of SC on that computer, but I only use/open daily the "Sierra Chart_64(C_Sierra Chart), Version 2654 64-bit, Revision 50663M. Here's another clue: my Message Log shows "UserContributedStudies.dll is not 64bit". BUT, I can open "User Contributed Studies" by going (as usual and as you instructed) to Studies>User Contributed Studies and among all the other available studies I still find the three(3) other Gann related studies which I stated in my first inquiry : Gann HiLo Activator/Gann Swing Oscillator/Gann Trend Oscillator. They are available both in default "Studies" as well as "User Contributed Studies" for some reason. But nowhere can I find the basic "Gann Swing". At one time I had it, as I stated earlier, for I do have it on a few charts. |

The "UserContributedStudies.dll" is an old 32-bit version of that file. It is no longer relevant and you can ignore it (or delete it if you want). It does not have anything to do with what you are seeing. At this point we need for you to update to the latest release. It's possible that the Gann Swing was removed for a bit, for whatever reason. But we can guarantee you that it is in the most recent version of the "UserContributedStudies_64.dll". If, for some reason, it is not there after you update (which should not be the case) then let us know. Hi John. No luck finding the Gann Swing after Newest Version update (2654>2655) and having previously (after shutting down SC) deleted the old 32-bit "UserContributedStudies.dll". No changes to what I see in "Studies>UserContributedStudies". The three Gann studies(Swing Osc./Trend Osc. and HiLo Activator) are there but no Gann Swing. Interestingly, the old Gann Swing that is somehow left on a few charts is still working and I was successful in saving it as "Study Collection" and applied it to a new chart.

This is not making any sense to us. The Gann Swing is definitely in the User Contributed Studies. But the other three you mention are not. We think you have those other three as custom studies outside of the User Contributed Studies and that you are not looking in the correct place for the Gann Swing. This is also the only conclusion we can come to given that you can use the study - if it was not there, then you would not be able to use it. We have attached two images: - UserContributedStudies: this shows the section you need to open on the "Add Custom Study" page. - GannSwing: shows where the Gann Swing study is located within the User Contributed Studies section. Apologies, John. I figured out my error. Embarrassing, so I won't even waste your time explaining! Thank you for always trying to help.
