I am an options trader looking at purchasing Sierra Chart to use with IBKR TWS, but the lack of an integrated options chain within Sierra Chart is giving me pause. A workaround that I thought of would be to do my charting and analysis of the underlying security within Sierra Chart, and then execute my orders within the IBKR TWS options chain. I would not have any IBKR data subscriptions. I would purely be using Denali data feed. Is this possible? Can I execute orders from within the IBKR platform's options chain using just the Denali data feed? Or can I only execute from within Sierra Chart? Thank you!! |

This is not a problem. Can I execute orders from within the IBKR platform's options chain using just the Denali data feed? Or can I only execute from within Sierra Chart?
We do not know, you would have to check with Interactive Brokers on this. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Sorry, I was actually just rephrasing the same question in my third paragraph. So, I’m confused by the conflicting answers you gave. Here is my question again: can I trade from within the IBKR platform with only the Denali data feed (no subscriptions from IBKR)? Or can I only trade from within the Sierra platform under these circumstances? If this is something I need to ask IBKR about then that’s totally fine, but I wanted to see if you knew the answer. Thank you! |

We do not know. You would have to check with Interactive Brokers on whether you need the data in their system to do the trading. We are not familiar enough with their system to be able to answer. Boezo0017, To trade in TWS you need IBs data. You cannot use denali data in TWS. So your solution is denali data for sierra chart And IBKR data in IB. But if you want to trade within SC with IB then it’s possible to trade with just denali data. This is what I am doing too. Hope that helps Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-05-20 15:14:07

If you do not have IB TWS real time data, you will get a warning that says "You are trying to submit an order without having market data for this instrument. IBKR strongly recommends against this kind of blind trading which may result in erroneous or unexpected trades". There is an "Overide and Transmit" Button in the IB TWS popup window that allows you to go ahead and place the trade. There is also a box to check that says "Don't display this message again". IB TWS does not prevent you from placing the trade. So if you have real time Denali data, you really don't need the IB TWS real-time data. You can send the order from SC and it should be filled at the real time price. I trade USDX DXM24 Jun Dollar Futures in IB TWS on NYBOT without paying for the $128 ICE real time monthly data fee. I just get the warning listed above. I just use the USDX Dollar Futures real time derived data from Investing dot com. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-05-20 18:28:46
