I thought it might be interesting to solicit opinions here about building a new PC specifically for Sierrachart, Spreadsheet Trading, ACSIL Trading.

I'm currently operating off an MSI GP-75 32GB, 1TB Gaming Laptop with NVDA GeForce GTX 1660 ti. This seems to be performing "fine", but I have an idle chassis laying around from a build I did years ago and I'm thinking that a new motherboard, CPU, memory and graphics card might take machine performance to a whole new level.

My CPU utilization currently hovers around 12-13% for each of the 2 instances of SierraChart that I'm running and GPU % is around 10%. I have no idea if this is light or heavy, but I find that backtesting can not be run any faster than 10x on Standard Replay and am wondering if a new build might allow me to go to 100x.

(side note re: Standard Replay. I use intrabar entries and find that the other methods of backtesting produce odd results. I'm very interested in improving that performance, but let's leave this thread for 2024 PC builds.)

Zero pennies for your thoughts, but they're appreciated all the same.

probably overkill, but I just built a new PC primarily for trading, this is what I went with:

asus rog maximus z790 dark hero motherboard
intel i9 14900k
192GB DDR5 6400
nvidia rtx 4080 super
4TB PCIE5 m2 SSD

noticeable boost in performance from what I had before
which was a Dell XPS i7 with 128GB, rtx4070 and dual pcie4 m2 ssd's

Thanks for sharing! What was the approximate cost to build this?

Definitely don't want your SC running off the same drive as Windows OS.
