Size of region changes when hiding and unhiding study

I have a study in Region 2, and the region occupies about 15-20% of the vertical space of the chart (region 1 is the other 80-85%). When I hide the study, Region 2 disappears as expected. When I unhide the study, Region 2 is now much larger, it looks like 30%. This seems to be the default. Is there a way to change this, so that the previous size of Region 2 is persisted?

No, there is no way to change this. If you are hiding a study and the region is not there and then you show the study and the region is there, the regions are going to be recalculated. You are not doing what you want to do properly. You must use Study Collections to do what you want: Study Collections Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. How does using a study collection solve the issue of the region size? After testing just now, when I apply a study collection the same 30% region default size is used. The solution I have of hiding/unhiding does exactly what it should do, except that the region size is not persisted. If there is a way to persist the region size using a study collection please let me know, but I could not find anything about it.

Instead of hiding a study, the study would not be included in one of the Study Collections and it would be included in the other Study Collection. In each case, the region sizes/heights are configured as you require for each Study Collection. We just did a test now of the Study Collection and we do see the region heights are restored as they were saved. Make sure you save the study collection after adjusting the Region Heights as you require. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Thank you for testing. In most cases this would work for me but I have about 30 studies, many of which are hidden/shown based on a custom study which sets the visibility of each and buttons are linked to these actions (for example, a button to hide/show a set of moving averages, etc.). Further, I have a spreadsheet study which is quite complex and used by multiple charts so I don't want to create/destroy that using study collections. But, for most cases I think the approach you mentioned is the best way if maintaining the region spacing is important. For now, I will just manually adjust it due to my constraints. Thanks again. |

We can add the capability to ACSIL to control the region heights as a percentage. Would that help?

If it's not too much trouble and wouldn't bump any other priorities, and if it would be a bonus to enhance the API, then yes, it would help. I think it would be straightforward for me to modify the code which hides/unhides the studies to simply set the percentage there. Thanks!

We expect a new ACSIL function for this to be released in about a week.
