Is it possible to create an alert for when a renko chart changes from green to red or vice versa? Since renko is a bar type and not a study, I was not sure if this could be done.

I think there is a renko study which would enable you to do it with a spreadsheet alert.
It may be under custom studies.

Yes. This can be done by setting the alert through on the chart itself:

I suppose this would involve SG22 as indicated on that page. If anyone has any suggestions on what operator to use, please post.

what type of alert would you like , chart background , sound ,arrow ... ?

Just a simple audio alert. I can figure that part out, I am puzzled as to how to format the alert.
