Why do Delta lines with the same values plot differently?

I developed a custom study to plot the difference between Cumulative Tick Delta and Cumulative Volume Delta. The study plots the two delta lines (Tick Delta in yellow and Volume Delta in cyan) and the difference between them (in pink). These are the three dashed lines on the chart. However, when I compared it against the lines when plotted individually (the solid lines), I noticed that although the values of the lines are identical in each case, the scaling looks completely different. Independent scaling is just what it states - Each study is going to be drawn completely independent of the other studies. Since you are displaying these with the Main Price Graph, there is not a good way to do this, since the Delta values are very different from the Main Price Graph, and you can only have a single study that is controlled by the Left Side Scale. In this case, the best thing to do is to put those items in a separate region and use Automatic scaling for all of them. Then the scales will all be the same. John, Thanks for your reply. Given what you said about only one study can be controlled from the left axis, I did a quick test and put the individual Cumulative Tick Delta and Cumulative Volume Delta on the chart in region 1 with the main chart, both studies using Independent scaling. I then added my composite study (the one that plots both delta lines) also in region 1 with Independent scaling. When I set the Composite study tick delta to Ignore and just plot the Volume line, then the Composite study Volume delta line overlaps the individual Cumulative Volume Delta line exactly. Likewise if I set the Composite study Volume Delta line to ignore and just plot the Tick Delta, then the Composite study Tick delta line overlaps the individual Cumulative Delta line exactly. However, if I plot both Composite study delta lines then they both differ from the individual delta lines. So, it seems only to be a problem when more than one line is plotted from the same study. |
