CQG Data Feed - Is it enough?

On the CQG page it says "Streaming Real-Time Data: Yes". Then it says "Historical Intraday Data: Provided by the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. This data is 10 minutes delayed. To avoid the 10 minute delay, you need to use the Sierra Chart Real-Time and Historical Exchange Data Feed." I am confused, first it says CQG real time data is supported, then it says you need the Sierra Chart Real-Time Data Feed. If CQG real time data is supported, why do you need Sierra Chart real time feed? Please explain. Thanks. |

The real time sierra data would be historical data to fill in your charts from this moment forward. The regular sierra historical data fills in the charts from this moment backward, but with a 10 minute delay. The cqg real time data also fills the chart from this moment forward. If you open a chart right now, the real time data would populate the chart from this moment forward. The historical data would populate the chart from this moment backward. I use the regular historical data by sierra and it works just fine for me. In some cases, People do not want the 10 minute gap. The 10 minute delay is not for real time data, it is for the historical data. In most cases , that does not cause a problem. |

If you are with AMP and using CQG, the historical data is no longer delayed by 10 minutes. Update Sierra Chart to the current version with Help >> Download Current Version and set the Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service to AMP CQG.

I see, thanks for the explanation. So basically, CQG real time data is useless if you need the previous 10 minutes, so you are forced to buy the Sierra Chart Real Time data. How come Sierra Chart can't download the previous 10 minutes using CQG feed? |
