When I draw a Trend Line on my chart the Trend Lines do not stay fixed. I have to keep putting them back into place. I asked about this and I thought I was told that it was caused by using 'lock fill space' i.e. when the Trend Lines extends into the Fill Space on the right side of the chart, there is no way to anchor the Trend Line to a Price that isn't there yet. - so I put up with moving Trend Lines until today. today I unchecked 'lock fill space' I waited until the fill space was filled, then I drew in my Trend Lines and they are still move about as my chart is drawn. Trend Lines with end points that are over 2 inches to the left of my Right Margin seem to stay put, but Trend Lines with end points close to the current price, always move around as price is updated. How can I keep ALL of my Trend Lines from moving about on my chart ?? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-08-01 18:08:33

Refer to this help topic: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails34.html This is not dependent on Lock Fill Space. The documentation does not mention this. Remember if you ANCHOR your trendline...RAY, etc to the last candle, or a candle already printed, the line will not move, I had to learn this myself. Trust me it works! BTW, SC is an awesome platform with Great support!!! |

thank-you. I read up on Anchor - it is part of Line Drawing Properties - the Start and Finish anchor points are automatically set to Date/Time and Value. I don't see Candle as an anchor, I presume you suggesting to anchor to the H or L of any Candle on the chart Anyways I am drawing in Trend lines which often don't have an endpoint close to a candle. I have removed Lock Right Side Fill space, but I still see a very small fill space to the right of the last candle. I will try to Avoid having a Trend Line end point in the small fill space on the right side. I am using Tick Charts and according to Support it is mathematically impossible to keep Trend Lines on Tick charts from moving around. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-08-05 21:42:03

Well I have found that anchoring the line to any candle in the line of where you are drawing the line works. A trendline always touches a wick or candle somewhere, correct? If not, they should.

YES, thank-you Find a candle, ANY candle, to anchor Trend Line end point to. Seems to work. Much better than floating Trend Lines. |
