Is there a way to send orders to a simulated account without being on the same network? For example, I have my SC running on an AWS EC2 instance because my personal computer is a Mac. The remote desktop UI on the EC2 instance is laggy, so I would prefer to send my orders and develop with the DTC protocol from my personal computer.

Have a look at the DTC Protocol Server: Data and Trading Communications (DTC) Protocol Server And the DTC Sub Instance Service that you can select in Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Current Selected Service.
