Hello Sierra Chart, I have created a custom symbol by duplicating "F.US.EP?##". When I use the custom symbol in a chart, the chart loads, however, a "Requested Symbol Was Not Found" is displayed in an orange box. The chart is not updating in real-time. I have read the Sierra Chart documentation on custom symbols and have not found a resolution. As this is a duplicate of the existing symbol, I am of the understanding that the custom symbol should work. Thank you |

What do you mean by "custom symbol". For what purpose is this? You are complicating whatever you are wanting to do by duplicating a symbol which is probably unrelated: "F.US.EP?##". Hello, I created a custom symbol so that I could apply different rollover settings and use this on another chart. I duplicated "F.US.EP?##" and named the custom symbol "F.US.EP?##-10D". For regular charts I am using "F.US.EPH24" and for the custom symbol I am using "F.US.EPH24-10D". As I would like to apply a different rollover date to a specific chart, is there a better way of achieving this? As mentioned above, the data loads but doesn't update in real-time. Thank you |

This is definitely not going to work. It is not supported to do this. The solution to what you want to do is to use a sub instance of Sierra Chart and modify the symbol settings there. Refer to this option: Global Symbol Settings: Use These Symbol Settings in New Instances When Started (Global Settings >> Symbol Settings) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Hello Sierra, Thank you for the sub instance suggestion. After testing sub instance functionality, this won't be ideal for my use case given that copying drawings between instances isn't supported. My preference is also to run a single instance of Sierra. Is it part of the Sierra Chart roadmap to support symbol settings (rollover settings, etc.,) on a chart-basis versus the current global-basis functionality? More specifically, to specify the rollover date on a per chart basis? If not, can this be added as a feature request? Thanks again for making Sierra Chart what it is! |
