HI,
I have been trying to run Sierra charts futures data off Denali Exchange Data Feed without connecting to interactive brokers with no success. The goal to help a friend who is thinking of setting up with Sierra charts but wants to practice before setting up and interactive brokers account.

I am sure there must be a way to sim trade futures just using Denali Exchange Data, just can't figure out how.

It all depends on the situation. The main thing to keep in mind is that in order to get the real-time data for the CME group at the non-professional rate, you need to have a live, funded, futures trading account to which you can connect at least once a month. Refer to the information at the following link:
Real-Time Exchange Data Feeds Available From Sierra Chart: Understanding and Accessing Data From the CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX Exchanges

So if they have an Interactive Brokers account, they can connect to that for verification and then change their "Current Selected Service" to "SC Data - All Services" to continue to get the real-time data and be able to sim trade.

But, if they do not have a live account they can connect to, then we recommend using our Delayed Streaming data for their simulated trading. This data is available with any package (including the "Base" packages) and is free of cost. It acts like real-time data, only is delayed by 10-15 minutes (depending on exchange). Refer to the information here:
Delayed Exchange Data Feed
For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service:
