I have been back testing and receiving displays on the "Closed PL" window of amounts (EUR/JPY) like "213404.08C" and all of a sudden, I am seeing figures like "1.75C" - what happened? many Thanks

You probably are trading too small of a quantity. The minimum quantity should be 10000.

It does not matter what quantity I input into the "Trade Window" and the "Studies", the "Closed PL" is still the same, for any amount input, the "Closed PL" is still the same figure. Very, very strange. Please advise.

Just an observation, I am using two distinct computers and running like type Excel formulas on both. The computer that I upgraded to the newest version of Sierra Charts is the one with the problems. The computer that is running the "older" version of Sierra Charts has no problems. Maybe this will help.

I have tried everything and I am still getting 1 and 2 digit numbers in the "Closed PL". I am running an Excel formula that BUYS and SELLS 15.83 million Japaneese Yen per trade and after every trdae there is only a change of between a -0.234 and +7.00 on the computer with the updated Sierra Charts version. The computer with the older Sierra Charts version is using the same Excel formula with BUY and SELL trades of 15.83 million Japaneses Yen and I am seeing amounts in the "Closed PL" of -13567.00 to +25489.12 after a few trades. As you can see, there is a major discrepancy in the size of the end data. Please advise.

I uninstalled the Sierra Charts program and reloaded the newest version. I ran some back tests and noticed in the "Entry Quantity" and "Exit Quantity" columns in the "Trade Activity Log" columns that it is only showing "1" or "2" units even though I have entered 158333400 units (EUR/JPY) everywhere - Trade Window, Anlysis > Studies > Studies to Graph,Chart, and Chart > Chart Settings > Edit Global Settings. How and where do I correct this discrepancy? Many Thanks

If you are using the Spreadsheet System for Trading study, you will want to set the order quantity through the Cell J26: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_SystemsAlerts.php#CellJ26 Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. This last recommendation worked great - Cell J26 in the Spreadsheet. I went back to my older computer and updated to the newer version of Sierra Charts and when I did this, I experienced the same problems that I experienced when I updated my newer computer, so there must be something in the newest version of Sierra Charts that is causing this need for an extra step now. Again, Mnay Thanks for all your help.

Everything appears to be back to normal with just one thing. I have "Trading Profit/Loss Text" (Analysis > Studies > Trading Profit/Loss Text) showing on my chart with "Open PL", "Closed PL", "Daily Net PL" and "Total Trades" exhibiting data after each back test. I am also going to my "Trade Activity Log > Trade Statistics" and reviewing "Total Trades" and "Total Open and Closed Profit/Loss". I have noticed that the "Trade Activity Log" data and The "Trading Profit/Loss Text" data showing on my chart never are the same. The "Total Trades" in the "Trade Statistics" Tab and the line item in my chart for "Total Trades" in the "Trading Profit/Los Text" box are always off, but not by much. I am assuming one is looking at all trades and one is looking at only closed trades - understandable. What does give me concern is the difference in the amounts listed as the summation of total of Open and Closed PL - "Trade Statistics" and "Trading Profit/Loss Text". There are some major differences. Please advise. |
