Today is 11-2-23. Compare a Renko 4t chart to a Aligned Renko 4t chart and they are identical. This happens frequently. Why is that? The formula of the Aligned Renko should make it different than the Renko chart.

Thanks-

They are very similar, but they are not exactly the same. Overlay one onto the other to see how they are different.

I did. You’re right they are very similar with slight differences. However, every third or fourth day. They are exactly identical. I think there’s a glitch.

If you can give us a day where they are exactly the same, we will take a look.

In my first message, I pointed out today they are identical. Use a Reno 4t and aligned Reno 4t.

We see what you are referring to, but this is just due to how the opening price works out for the beginning of the session. When the first trade for the session happens to be an even multiple of the bar size, then there is going to be no difference between the Renko and Aligned Renko bars for that day. Refer to the information here:

How can I change that? Use the second trade if the first trade is an even multiple of bar size? Or use first trade that isn’t an even multiple of bar size in case the first and second trades are even multiples? Anywhere in chart settings?

Thank you!

There are no settings for this. This is how the Aligned Renko is setup in our system. If it is not exactly what you are looking for, then look through the other Renko options to see if one of them may be better for what you are looking for. All of the information on Renko bars in Sierra Chart is at the following link:
