Last night I lost over half of my account because my trading spreadsheet failed to execute a buy-exit order. There is absolutely no reason that I can see why this failed to execute, it has always worked and I have not adjusted any of the inputs. I even backtested the trade in SIM and it executed with no problem. I am obviously very, very upset. I want to know why this happened, and if this is a common problem that I was just unaware of. It takes a tremendous level of trust in your platform to leave it to trade on its own which is why I had backtested so much data to make sure that it was all working smoothly. Help me understand why this happened, please.

You can never leave automated trading alone. That is a very basic rule. It is always important to have a backup Stop order in place. Another thing that can safeguard against a problem like this is the upcoming server-based profit/loss management functionality for Teton order routing. We should have that released in a few weeks. It is available now with this service: Simulated Futures Trading Service As far as why this happened this is not within the scope of our support.
