Cannot set bar period value below 10 seconds

If I set the Bar Period Value in the Chart Settings to below 10 seconds, for example 5, it still takes 10 seconds to display a new bar. I have a countdown timer, which then counts to negative. Is 10 seconds the lowest you can go, or am I missing something?
