Hi Support, I am having troubles creating a new intraday chart to allow me to replay back dates (eg 25-01-2023) using a 1 min charts. When I first open it it seems ok when I change it to 1 Min chart as per attached image. Next I go to the replay button back to the 25-01-23 and then I can't see the chart at all from the 25-01-23. It goes to 16-08-23 for some reason (see second image). Basically I want to create two individual ES charts, and then apply different templates to them and save them a new chartbook so that I can do back testing on them one using 1Min and the other being 5Min charts. Regards Serg |

You are trying to start a Replay further back than what you have data loaded in the chart. You can only run a replay on the actual data that is in the chart. Refer to the following to load more data into the chart: Loading More Or Less Data into an Intraday Chart For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hi John, I have done that but new issues arise. It goes back to the date now, but the chart candles disappear. Very strange and unable to replay charts, either on single chart or multiple charts as per Image. Please see both images. Not sure what else could be the issue? Btw on another Chartbook, I can rewind without issues but in this chartbook I can't rewind. Sergio Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-10-04 02:20:25

Hi Sergio, just sharing my experience with market replays. I prefer to use Linked charts for multi-chart replays instead of using "all charts in chartbook". With linking feature, make sure to select the relevant actions on what you are telling SC to sync. Dates, session times, symbol, etc... very powerful feature imo. Also, when replaying multicharts, it is crucial to ensure there is no "gaps" in data across all charts. You normally get into trouble i.e. paused replays when one chart has morning session and another chart has morning and evening sessions etc. Also/ there seems to be some pausing with market replays when study collection has price overlay charts. It's complicated to fully understand or explain. And lastly, with multi-chart replays, make sure any of your charts do not have "Date Exclude" under chart settings/chart data. Exclusion of dates could also causing pausing in some instances. And just to say it, pausing does not mean it's stuck or crashed. SC is trying to read/skip those missing data records during the chart syncing process. If you let it stay in pause, it will eventually "wake up" and continue with the replays. Weird and requires patience :-) Oh and also, "skipping" feature in market replays usually has not worked for me with multi-chart replays. Nowadays, what I do is have a very simple "low load" single-strategy study collection to test a idea or strategy before I integrate it into my main collection with all the bells and whistles. This reduces my testing/replay times tremendously by running speeds at 900+. Hope this helps. |

John@SC Support, Could you please confirm if pausing of Market replay across multiple linked charts is considered normal or a bug especially when using Price Overlay study? I feel this could be a bug. It should not pause when all linked charts are configured to run only during NYSE session times. At the end of each session/day, it seems to wait and parse through overnight session times and then continue to the following day. |

In answer to User61168's question, which we think may be the issue that Sergio Anacleto is having - if the option for "Skip Empty Periods" is NOT enabled, then the replay will run through time as normal, so if there are empty periods in a chart, the replay will appear to "pause" as the time is passing in the replay, but there is nothing to display in the chart. If you enable the option for "Skip Empty Periods", then the replay will skip over those times where there is no trading (or no data), but when replaying multiple charts this could lead to the charts getting out of synchronization. Refer to the information here: Replaying Charts: Skip Empty Periods For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thanks John. The skip empty period option is always checked in my case and still no skipping happens during multi-chart replay (with price overlay studies). There is always a pause from 16:59 ET until the next day 9:30am ET. This happens with linked charts as well as with all charts in chart book option. Try it out with 2+ aligned Renko chart type wirh different period and first chart having price overlay study pointing to chart#2 and 3 :-) With linked charts, all charts are already in sync so there should be no gaps. I fell it is the price overlay that is causing the pause. |

Hi John, This is what I have selected in the replay. I have changed different dates and now its working only from 27-06-23, any further back I have the same issues. I have always the option Skip empty periods selected for single or all charts in chartbooks. Initially I created the templates under a working chartbook (ie no issues with replay backs), and that works perfectly in either chart time period (1 Min or 5 Min) but because I need both time charts under one screen I created two separate intraday charts anf then created a chartbook. I attach this new chartbook for your review please to ensure I can replay back to the beginning of 2023. Cheers Sergio |

First do not use "Use Start Date-Time". This only adds more confusion. Never use it. We have added now a warning to the replay documentation to never use this option. Scroll the chart back instead to where you want to start the replay: Replaying Charts: Basic Chart Replay Instructions And set the chart to be a continuous futures contract chart: Continuous Futures Contract Charts Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I can only remove the first row of the start date time. It does not allow me to remove the second row (end date). When I press OK and go back into the settings the first date is back there again. This can't be that difficult. Can you please advise if you can make it work using the chartbook I sent you? Cheers Sergio |

Do you have this setup as a "Continuous Futures Contract Chart"? Refer to the following: Continuous Futures Contract Charts Also refer to the following for how to load more Intraday Data: Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Downloading/Viewing More Historical Intraday Data For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
