Hello everyone, I'm new to Sierra Chart and currently learning the ropes through paper trading. I'm having trouble with configuring the session time. I want to trade Micro E-mini Nasdaq futures and am trying to configure Sierra Chart to give a warning/countdown timer when the trading hours are almost over, so that I can close all positions and prevent getting a potential margin call. I Live in the CET time zone (Netherlands). Can someone help me on the right way? I've already consulted the manual, but am still not certain on how to configure this. The firs thing is to determine what time zone you want to use for your charts. Due to the differences in when Daylight Saving occurs in the U.S. versus the rest of the world, we recommend using the time zone of the exchange itself, but this is not absolutely necessary (you just have to accept that there will be an hour of odd data twice a year). Once you know the time zone you want, then set this in the "Global Settings >> Time Zone" page. This sets the global time zone for your charts. You can change individual charts, but if you are only trading one exchange, then there is not much reason to do this. Then set your session times relative to the selected time zone. The generally accepted start time for the CME Group regular trading hours in the Central US Time Zone is 08:30. The end time is 16:00 (15:59:59 is what you would enter for the Session Time End) when there is a one hour break. Then the evening session starts at 17:00. Isn't better to setup RTH and ETH hours using Global settings > symbol settings? (after of course we setup the 'Time Zone' as you said above) BTW, I set my local TZ to New York -5 EST (even I'm in Europe) and my question is what will be my starting session time? The hour of Chicago or New York? like 07:30 or 08:30? Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-05-03 12:16:29

Yes, if you will be opening new charts rather than using a "Template" it would be best to change the Symbol Settings to be the hours that you want. The Symbol Settings work a bit differently, in that you define the Time Zone in the Symbol Settings which is just the time zone of the times that are entered. That Time Zone is not used. This way, the system can do the conversion from those times to the actual chart time zone. Refer to the information for the Time Zone in the symbol settings here: Global Symbol Settings: Symbol Settings If you have your Sierra Chart Time Zone set to New York, then you would want your Regular Trading Hours session to start at the time that it starts in New York. For the CME Group, which starts the regular trading session at 08:30 Central US Time, this would be 09:30 New York time. So you would enter a start time of 09:30 for a chart that is set to New York time zone.
