The issue -
Given a source chart with a study to overlay on a destination chart using Study/Price Overlay - If you remove the study to overlay from the source chart, you get an unusable destination chart. That's until you add the study to the source chart again.

In order to be able to add and remove studies from source chart without that happening, do this -
Source chart
- Set "Chart Graph Types" to "Blank"
- Add "Study/Price Overlay" study
- Set "Study to overlay" to the same chart number and <Main price graph>
- Set scale to Automatic
- On Subgraphs tab, tick the “Use chart graphics settings for subgraph colors”

Destination chart
- Add “Study/Price Overlay” study
- Choose the source chart and study to overlay
- Scale - Same as region
- “Use colors from source study” - Yes
- “Use styles and widths from source study” - Yes

You can add as many overlays as you want and the destination chart will not alter its look
The moment you add studies to source chart they will appear as usual on destination chart.
