I am very new to the software, so expect is a basic issue, but am unable to get the Volume at Price function to display an actual market profile on a daily chart. It works on intraday time frames, but not daily - the histogram has a constant volume level per attached chart. Wondered if might be a data error, or more likely I have a setting wrong? Thanks. |

What you see does make sense because you have the time period of the Volume Profiles set to 1 Day. It is not possible on a Daily bar to determine the correct volumes within a day. So you have to lengthen the Volume by Price time period to something like 1 Month

Ok, I am confused. When I set the time period to Weekly, I get weekly profiles? Put differently, what are the most common settings for looking at daily market profiles over a series of days?

This is what I've been reading, and would indicate I should set to daily? Time Period Type for Fixed by Time When the Volume Graph Period Type is Fixed by Time, One Period of Fixed Time Length, or From Start Date-Time + Time Length, this control specifies the time period length for the Volume Profiles. It works with the Time Period Length for Fixed by Time setting. The setting can be one of the following: Minutes Days Weeks Months Years In the case of a Volume Profiles based on Weeks, Months or Years, the Volume Profiles will always start at the beginning of the Week, Month, and Year respectively. In the case of profiles which are based upon multiple Weeks, multiple Months, or Multiple Years, these are relative to January 1, 1950. |

Set the chart bars to Daily. Not Weekly or a timeframe. Go into the Volume by Price settings and set: Time Period Type for Fixed by Time to Months Time Period Length for Fixed by Time To 1 Ticks per Volume Bar to 5 Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
