Hey Sierra, I am trying to load and count the number of bars (in a volume per bar chart), which happen during a reversal tick chart bar. Inside a single reversal bar, I might have multiple volume bars (inside the timeframe of a single reversal bar). Sometimes I might have 1 or less. However, the Price overlay does not appear to be using timestamps to overlay the price charts. I have tried using Study price overlay, and Overlay studies. I like the idea I am working with, maybe it could be a momentum type study. I am replicating a study that uses this method. Although, this study requires the overlay to be as close to the timestamp as possible. So I might not be able to use this overlay method. Is there a better way to configure the charts? -LD I've included a snapshot below https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1690738971496.png (A new bar on the Reversal Tick chart, begins at 10:57:52. But the Overlay studies mark the reversal at 10:57:17, two bars before it should. Two bars later, there is a new bar at 10:57:45, and three later is 10:57:58). This happens nearly every bar. they don't seem to line up like I thought they should.) |

What exactly is being overlaid?

The price chart bars of the 20 Rev Tick Chart - and I'm overlaying the price chart into a 720 volume per bar chart. I have 2 studies overlayed - although I tried them separately too. One is the price chart, and the other is bar end time. |

These charts are not compatible with each other. You are not going to get a perfect overlay at all.

fiddle sticks... I now realize I cannot transfer any data between these charts. So, is there a way to overlay a time bar chart, into a volume per bar chart? Or are these also not compatible? I'm kinda doubting that will work... I'll have to find a lower volume bar chart with a compatible volume. Then write a reversal method for that chart. & then write the program for that smaller volume chart and then overlay the signals into a larger chart. ok, time to get to work. When using the Study/Price Overlay study to overlay variable timeframe chart bars from one chart to another, with different settings, the study is only going to best fit the bars and there will be skipped bars from the source chart. There is never going to be an exact match. It is hard for us to comprehend exactly what you want to do.
