Realtime data was very slow at the open today on Windows and Linux/Wine. Moved back to v2523 and all is good. Did something with v2524 have issues?

Noticed the same this morning with 2524. Downgraded back to 2517, and everything looks good now.

This is an issue affecting Linux only.

@ertrader, @allons_trading, wonder what is "Intraday Data Storage Time Unit" you guys using? I am currently using "1 Second" (Linux Mint + Wine 7) It is scary if it only effects Linux, I guess I will have to stick to 2523 as long as I can, not ready to buy a Windows computer yet. |

Mine is set to 1 tick and it has been for years. I'm sure SC will get the bottom of it. It's hard for me to image a scenario where I would go back to Windows. Especially with this update: Native Support for Linux. Will This Ever Come? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-07-18 16:59:55

We are going to work on a solution for this for Linux users. Just give us until next week. Stay on an older version for now. Also, we did not know this problem was going to occur. We were informed by the Wine developers, that the issue with out of order Overlapped I/O buffers was solved. So we went back to using multiple buffers but we can see this is causing a performance issue on Wine. On Windows the use of multiple buffers delivers much higher performance. Did they provide what version of Wine this was fixed in? I know my system had just updated to 8.11 on Sunday, and then 8.12 was available yesterday. |

Is V2525 good to try with Wine/Linux or should we wait for another release?

I pulled down v2525 to verify I was seeing the issue with Wine 8.12 this morning before the open and was still seeing delays.

We have not yet implemented a solution to this. Stay on a version earlier to 2524 for now when using Linux.

For the Linux guys, I thought this might be interesting: https://www.xmodulo.com/run-program-process-specific-cpu-cores-linux.html Specially the last part: Dedicate a Whole CPU Core to a Particular Program While taskset allows a particular program to be assigned to certain CPUs, that does not mean that no other programs or processes will be scheduled on those CPUs. If you want to prevent this and dedicate a whole CPU core to a particular program, you can use isolcpus kernel parameter, which allows you to reserve the CPU core during boot. Add the kernel parameter isolcpus=<CPU_ID> to the boot loader during boot or GRUB configuration file. Then the Linux scheduler will not schedule any regular process on the reserved CPU core(s), unless specifically requested with taskset. For example, to reserve CPU cores 0 and 1, add isolcpus=0,1 kernel parameter. Upon boot, then use taskset to safely assign the reserved CPU cores to your program. FYI.. here is the WineHQ Bugzilla report. Also, Wine 8.13 development was released 7/21/23. However, I'm staying on SC V2523 until SC has some time to address this. SC V2523 has been solid on Linux/Wine. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55232 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-07-22 15:10:22

hi @ertrader, is it working for you running linux+wine? I am running wine-8.13 (Staging) and can't download the charts, no matter what I tried. Thanks |

Wine 8.12 with two instances, SC 2527 with the single buffer option enabled and SC 2517. No data seen issues with the pre-release version.

I'm on Wine 8.13 with two instances of SC 2527 and at least for now, I do not detect any data issues.

Thank you for your answers I just installed 2523 and just runs perfectly! So my question is why latest versions don't work?! |

@VLiviu See this post Resolution of Poor Network IO Performance under Linux/Wine Versions 2524 and above are affected. Pre-release version 2527 adds the ability to enable a single buffer on Linux (which versions 2523 and below were using). |

That buffer didnt do anything for me, nothing helped :) But 2523 works. So, if you say "Versions 2524 and above are affected" this means it's not wine's fault? |

I do not believe the issue is Wine related. Running Wine 8.13 and SC 2448 shows no problems with the data delay. Update to 2526 or 2527 both have the same issue. Even running a single chart. Hardware is not the problem. Will try SC 2523 this weekend and post an update. The only reason I am updating is because of the loss of data running the older version of SC. Making the adjustment specified in thread "[Sticky] [Locked] - Resolution of Poor Network IO Performance under Linux/Wine" did not make a difference. top - 12:55:54 up 2:34, 1 user, load average: 2,01, 1,16, 0,53 Tasks: 576 total, 1 running, 575 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie %Cpu(s): 1,7 us, 0,2 sy, 0,0 ni, 98,0 id, 0,0 wa, 0,0 hi, 0,0 si, 0,0 st MiB Mem : 63433,6 total, 7895,3 free, 5036,2 used, 50502,1 buff/cache MiB Swap: 2048,0 total, 2048,0 free, 0,0 used. 57588,6 avail Mem PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 6835 rob 20 0 4241140 938092 109024 S 49,2 1,4 3:18.73 SierraC+ 6785 rob 20 0 16688 15196 1636 S 5,3 0,0 0:07.03 wineser+ 2711 rob 20 0 1525816 226372 151408 S 3,0 0,3 3:43.03 Xorg Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-07-29 11:05:11
