Hello, I am using the trade management by study to drive my target and stop. I use the Trading: Position Average Price to determine the entry price and then a Spreadsheet formula to calculate the levels where to put the target and stop. It works perfectly for the long position BUT for the short I can't have the Trade Management by Study ON before I enter the position or it will exit right away. It works if I turn the trade management ON AFTER I enter the position. What it seems to be the problem is that as soon as I enter the position, the trade management study see the Position average price as Zero and it moves the stop right there. Is there something I can do so that the Entry Price is evaluated before the trade management kicks in without having to do it manually? Thank you for your help M |

We really do not understand why there would be any difference in a Long position versus a Short for what you are seeing. The only thing we can think of is to ensure that the order of the studies on the "Chart Studies" window is set that the "Trading: Position Average Price" is above the "Spreadsheet Formula" and the "Spreadsheet Formula" is above the "Trade Management by Study". This sets the general Calculation Order. Hopefully this will resolve it for you. The reason why it works for long but not for short is because the initial Position Average Price is zero, before the the Position Average Price is set - so for longs, having stops at zero doesn't exit the position until the next tick when the trade management study moves the stop to the correct place but for shorts, it basically exits as soon as I enter. I will make sure the studies are ordered as you suggested and check if it works. Thank you

So the problem was that I didn't sort correctly the studies. Thank you for pointing that out. Now every thing works smoothly :) M SOLVED |
