Questions about Order Allocation to Trade Accounts

I currently use Sierra Chart with Teton and Denali data feed (SP 10) and trade through AMP Futures. I also have a Ninjatrader Brokerage account.

Referring to the Order Allocation page, "The trade accounts to which the orders can be copied, can only be those Trade Accounts that available on the username that is used to login to the Trading service." Does this mean I can only use the Order Allocation feature with Brokers that support Sierra Chart with Teton (i.e. AMP, Stage 5 Trading, Optimus, and others on the Teton page)? Or can I also use Sierra Chart to trade my AMP Futures account (Teton, Denali) and copy trades to my Ninjatrader brokerage account (through CQG)?

Lee

You cannot copy cross-broker. You can trade to any accounts that appear in the accounts dropdown in the Trade Window. For example I use it to copy accounts with various evaluator companies (Bulenox, Apex, and LeeLoo currently) and I can copy to multiple accounts at each of those companies, but I cannot copy from one account at one company, to any accounts at any *other* company. Replace "evaluation companies" with "brokers" and that's the idea.

Ok. So this feature is for companies such as Apex where you can open up to 20 accounts, and then copy trades from one Apex account to the rest of the Apex accounts? If you work with Bulenox, Apex, and Leeloo, does that mean to copy trades within each of those companies, you're using 3 different SC installations on the same computer? Also, are you trading different strategies (using different entries) for each evaluation company, or have you figured out a way to copy the same trades across the 3 different companies?

The feature will work with brokers too, as long as the accounts you want to trade all appear in the trade window Accounts dropdown in a single instance of SC.

I run 3 copies of SC daily (totally separate copies, not using the "instance" feature of SC), one per evaluation company. In each one of those, they are set up to copy to multiple accounts with that company. But they cannot copy from one copy of SC, to another.

I don't usually trade them all at the same time (though I do on occasion). I'm not trading a "strategy" per se, I'm trading the order flow using statistical patterns. Sometimes I see an opportunity that is going to be around for a little while, so I put trades on in more than one company at the same time to take advantage of it, but that's not typical. I tend to trade one, and once that setup is over and I'm at a number I'm happy with, I move to another. Or if I have a bad morning and am down in the first company I traded, I will often quit for the day without touching the others, unless I can tell that I just got a bad read initially but it's getting clear now.

I think I get it now. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It seems Order Allocation to Trade Accounts only allows trades to be copied within the same broker or evaluation company. Since I'm using AMP Futures as my broker, I would be able to do it if I had multiple AMP accounts. If I want to use a 2nd broker, I would install a 2nd copy of SC on the same computer, but I still wouldn't be able to copy trades between the two brokers.

It doesn't seem SC will support this anytime soon, if at all. If I wanted to copy the same trades between two brokers using SC, have any 3rd party vendors created something to make this possible?

This can be done if you are using the Teton Order Routing Service for both accounts at two brokers. But otherwise, it does not work.

Yes, there is someone that has a tool to copy trades between various accounts. We do not remember exactly who it is. If you search this support board, you should find it.

Aha this is an interesting option though John, glad you mentioned it!

So you're saying if one had an account using Teton say at IronBeam, and another at AMP (once Teton is fully rolled out there), then it would be possible to copy from one to the other?

@John,

That seems to be how I was reading the support board, but I'm new to SC so I wanted clarification. What would be the process of doing this? Would I need 2 separate installations of SC or would I be able to do it through a single SC installation?

I am currently with AMP using Teton and plan to use either Stage5 or Optimus with Teton.

Lee

No this is definitely not the case at all since these use different connections!:

@Sierra_Chart Engineering,

Can you clarify how the Order Allocation to Trade Accounts works? Seems there's differing information on this thread. So this feature is only for accounts within the same company (i.e. accounts within Apex or accounts within AMP Futures), and can't be used across different brokers?

That is correct, it can only be used with the same broker where you have multiple accounts under the same login.

The information I gave previously was incorrect and has been corrected. My apologies.
