I tried my new spreadsheet automated trading strategy today for the first time live today. I noticed my trades were going in and out pretty randomly. Though for some reason I did make some money today, the trades weren't following my strategy/formulas.

I started poking around and found some random numbers in my Slope of 50ma column. Some numbers looked right but then some numbers were completely out of whack. I can see the 50 MA rising up at a good angle but instead of numbers like 765, 800, and 1000 for the slope of the line, I was getting -34324538, 443434243, and then sometimes 0. I modified my formula, then the numbers in the 50 MA slope column recalculated and looked fine. I then reverted back to my original formula and the column recalculated and then looked fine.

I am not sure what happens when trading live for the slope column. Here is my calculation: =slope(id4.sg1@3:id4.sg1@6,A3:A6)

Because my 50ma slope column numbers were all over the place, my trades were all over the place too.

This might be a calculation precedence issue.

The calculation order was set to 3. I changed to 1. I am going to increase the number of bars in the calculation and see what happens. Still getting numbers like these this morning and the slope of the 50ma is going up visually.

I have another instance of SC running on the same computer with the same calculation and the numbers look good. Also, My 5ma slope and 15ma slope are not correct either.

Does a Chart >> Recalculate fix the values?

Yes. Chart>> Recalculate made the Slope 50MA column look better. But probably the only way to tell if that works permanently is to wait for the market open tomorrow. Thanks!

If a recalc will fix it, the problem is likely a calculation precedence issue.

Refer to the link in post #2.

If can't be resolved with the those things mentioned at the link, a workaround is to add the
