Hi, I must be missing something basic with this chart. Chart is set to use both sessions (RTH and evening) yet seems to show only 1 candle per day, starting at close of day 16:14 EST.

I want to see 2 bars per day, one for each session. Please verify/advise, thanks in advance.

Very creative thought to have 2 sessions separated!!

There is no direct solution, the normal bar display have to be either equal amount of time or equal amount of volume/trades per bar, I made this happen by these steps:

1, Use 'Volume Per Bar' instead of Daily Bar, you need an Intraday Chart and change settings: Chart Settings -> Bar Period -> Intraday Chart Bar Period Settings

2, Set 'Bar Period Value' to a ridiculous high number, say 300,000,000, there is no way we would have that amount of volume in any session. (Similar way for a Range/Renko chart with a ridiculous high tick value, i.e. 16,000) I saw you have MES in the attached image, you might need change those numbers accordingly when switching to another Futures product.

3, Since you set 'New Bar at Session Start' to 'Yes', now we have 2 bars per day, one for evening session and one for cash session.

Hope it would help.

P.S.
I usually set day session to end at 17:00:00 and evening session to start at 18:00:00, regardless what time you set, you will get 2 bars per day.

Thank you Tony, but to Sierra: Is there really no way to simply show one candle per session? I must be missing something.

Your larger session is from 16:15 to next day 09:30, a duration of 17:15. What you want to do is use a bar duration just over this time. What that will do is make all your bars terminated by session end times, not by running out of time.

Make sure your chart is intraday, not daily, and set bar duration to 18 hours. You might have some trouble with the first bar of the week, but you can experiment to figure that out as well, I think.

Didn't think of that, so, if the bar duration is 23 hours and 59 minutes, it will cover any products, not just ES, it is a better solution:

Bar Period Type: Days-Mins-Secs-Milliseconds Per Bar
Bar Period Value: 0-1380-59-999

the value has to be less than 24 hours, otherwise it won't work.

@jivetrader, your screen shot shows your value was set to 1-0-0, that has to be changed to 0-1380-59-999

Thanks! It is a weird quirk, and the workaround is perfect. You guys are awesome!
