X-Axis Chart Scaling Issue

If I click and drag the right side values scale, I get smooth nearly tick by tick price levels on the y-axis. How can I get the same for the x-axis time/date? Say I have a daily chart, days to load set to 520 but I want to scale/show a specific range of 360. Any combination of dragging, scaling, click shift and scroll wheel jumps by months/weeks I can't find a way to get "bar by bar" precision on the x-axis. FYI going into settings and entering in date range or the number of days to load isn't a solution IMO. We should be able to get precise charts on both x and y axis quickly and easily... Am I missing something? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-01-05 11:44:30

Since the horizontal axis is - horizontal, each value takes up space. Therefore, it is not possible to have every value displayed. The best you can do is to limit the amount of information displayed. In particular, the following two settings on the Chart >> Chart Settings >> Scale page: - Display Day of the Week with Dates on Intraday Chart Time Scale - Include Seconds on Intraday Time Scale You will find the information on these at the following link: Chart Settings: Display Day of Week with Dates on Intraday Chart Time Scale (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Scale menu) Beyond the above, there is nothing else you can do to get the information to display for every bar. John thanks for the reply. Sorry my message may have been confusing. I'm not looking for values I want the same smooth scrolling that exists on the y-axis. The x-axis 'jumps'. Example my 5 min charts jumps 10 bars and my daily chart jumps 24 bars. See message above, this is while holding the shift key and scroll wheel on the mouse to adjust the visible amount of bars being displayed on a chart. I want to be able to hold shift and scroll to display a range of bars. Eg. 60days, 61days, 62days (or 5 min chart, seeing 30,31,32 bars) not from 60 days to 84 days displayed. Hope that helps Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-01-06 22:09:00

I have passed this to our Senior Engineer to see if he has any insight. No matter how I have my settings, the scroll wheel always scrolls the bars by 1 bar at a time. So I do not know how you are getting the large jumps you are. We will remind him to get back to you on this. Reminder it will scroll one bar at a time left to right. I am trying to adjust to x-axis scale to the window to display a set range. Example. Chart set to daily with 120 days loaded but I want to display last 30 day (or whatever). I can never get it to adjust by the bar it's always a jumps a set of x bars. |

This would be affected by the Scroll Multiplier setting: General Settings Window: Scroll Multiplier (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Scroll) Make sure that is set to 1. Unless we are misunderstanding. If you are talking about changing the bar spacing, then this is really uncontrollable. It is going to not be bar by bar. The change will be more than just by one bar. Since when the spacing between each bar is increased by one pixel, then you are going to lose more than one bar on the chart. Scroll Multiplier is set to 1 and I think we are on the same page now. Adjusting the scale on the y-axis chart bars smoothly stretch to fill the window how do I accomplish same on the x-axis? I must be missing something there has to be a way to fill in this space for clean looking charts, see attached? Here's a daily chart, bars/chart data going back years (you need to have more bars then what's displayed to accurately count moving averages) how can I fill the entire window on both axis to make clean looking charts from a specific date (eg here Jan 1, 2021 to present). The space to the right is the "Fill Space". If you are not able to scroll into it, then you must have the option for Chart >> Lock Fill Space enabled. Disable this option, then scroll to the end of the chart (to the right) and then when you scroll back to the left it will fill into that area. Fill space is off... even before these posts I tried turning that on/off & locking to the right of the chart. I can scroll into area but then that changes the start time of the chart which I don't want. Remember on attached chart I want to display ONLY the bars from Jan 1, 2021 (or any time frame) to present but fill in all the space, both axis on a chart. Even tried grabbing and resizing the window, that doesn't work either.

You need to have the Lock Fill Space off and then increase your Bar Spacing to fill in the extra space. But you will have to play with the spacing and location, etc. in order to get exactly what you want.

Lock space is off. This is what I'm asking how can I fine tune the bar spacing on a daily (or any timeframe) chart it jumps by over 30 days. I would think this is the most basic of chart functionality to display from a start date to an end date and fill the entire chart. I've got to be missing a setting somewhere ...

Please attach your Sierra4.config file to this thread. We would like to see if we can reproduce the jumpiness you are seeing.

See attached. Also included 2 charts. If I scroll to the right and fill in the chart 'dead space', then adjust bar spacing (to get to my desired time frame) by 2 adjustments, chart shifts 60+ days.

The only thing that should affect this is the Scroll Multiplier, which appears to be set to 1.00 from what we see, and from what you stated above. Please let us know what the setting for Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Scroll Wheel is set to. It's set to 1. If I use shift and scroll wheel I get ~30+ day moves on a daily. If I use the up/down arrow key it's the same.

I see in the last few updates you added the ability to fine tune the y-axis scale (Interactive Scale Range). Any chance you all made any enhancements to do similar to the x-axis? Working With Charts: Changing Bar Spacing Use the Up and Down arrow keys on your keyboard to increase or decrease the chart bar spacing by 1 graphics pixel at a time, respectively. Example using the Up/Down arrows key in my setup will shift visible bars on a 5 min chart by 20 bars/candles. On a daily chart it's like 45+ (see above). See attached Daily SPX chart as example. Chart A daily bars, using Up/Down arrow I would expect/want to adjust visible bars by 1 instead Chart B shows like a 45 day jump. I'm looking for an easy way to see visible bars one by one.
