Current latency issues

Are there any latency issues right now? I'm seeing lots of paketloss and unusual ping times in my montoring to Denali data and another IP in a Euquix datacenter in Chicago while other endpoints like e.g. Teton order routing looks fine.

Screenshot attached. This started around 1 hour before FOMC but got worse during FOMC announcement. Screenshot is around 1 min after FOMC.

No absolutely not. Absolutely not. There has been no data loss or no lagging issues. We have a recording to prove it.

These kinds of issues will be on your side or somewhere else. Not on the Denali data feed side.

There are no problems on the Equinix CH1 side.

I "only" had around 200ms in the worst spike. Typically it's around 110-120 ms from my location to CHI

There are no delays at all. We will attach a video later.

And we are monitoring from a remote location. Everything is working perfectly, without any delay and no packet loss.

The recording is a few minutes into the announcement, but during the announcement there was no issue either.

Strange. Is Denali distributed out of Equinix datacenter? Maybe they have an issue with their peerings when the market gets fast. At least another IP I'm monitoring from Equinix shows the same issues at the same time.

Is 142.215.18.148 the correct IP to monitor for Denali?

There is some partial issue.
Left : Teton
Right : IBKR
Same Denali feed [M]

Checking the same IP it shows massive paketloss for me. Strange that Teton an all the other IPs I monitor are ok. Only Denali and the Equinix IP are having very bad stats.

This IP is fine to use:
142.215.18.148

Equinix CH1 is a data center with a very large number of carriers. They are not an Internet data carrier themselves. You have to consider the carriers. The carriers we have been told which are involved in our case, are NTT, Lumen and Verizon.

And we also did some extended pinging for about a minute and we still see no loss.

This is how I'm connected from Europe. Could be an issue with Equinix or NTT but it is clearly related to a spike in Futures volume - so I suppose it is the Equinix DC or gateway at Chicago.

There is still some issue : 30 sec delay between 2 instances of SC, same Denali feed, same PC.

I can locate the issue 100% between hop 10 and 11 - so it is an peering issue with NTT when markets get wild.

Ping to 195.2.16.134 shows nearly no paket loss. Ping to 128.241.2.153 a lot!

@SC Engineering

can you doublecheck if your good latency values you posted above is with another connection than NTT?

Today, for the first time, I experienced the following problems with SC/Teton: constantly frozen, constantly trying to download data, not getting data, data freeze, and all this while my internet connection was runninng smoothly.

Screenshot that highlights it attached. I checked with two carriers (VDSL and cable) and also a 5G Backup connection - clearly out of my scope and not fixable for me ;-(

But happy I found it after weeks of issues and relying on another datasource.

Right now SC is working good again. Before the news an hour ago I had freezes, no data download after reconnect and delay. I am in Europe, Germany.

Here is the video we mentioned. It was started 4 minutes later but still a lot of activity. The video refresh rate does not show even faster refreshing occurring on the chart.

There were also no delays, when the announcement came out. We were watching it at that time. And only later started the video.

I'm also in Germany. Can you check the traceroute if you are also connecting to Equinix DC over NTT hops?

I hope SC engineering have some influcence on how the DC connects. Right now I'm checking different carriers / connection methods to see if there is one that does not route over NTT. My VDSL and Cable unfortunately do.

I have 15-20% paketloss right now. Clearly not an option to get realtime data in reliable manner
