This has happened several times this year I need help fixing for good. I draw levels on one chart and share to others. Rectangular boxes to denote levels. They appear on the other charts, sometimes for weeks - sometimes for only days before disappearing on the child charts. I rely on these levels and I rarely make any type of change to my charts. How do I fix this. Thank you

Are these drawings on Futures charts? And if so, are the drawings disappearing around the time of the rollover of the contract?

Drawings are attached to the chart and symbol. When the symbol for the chart changes, the drawing will go away, unless you have the option to display drawings for other symbols. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Show Chart Drawings For Different Symbols (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawings menu)

The other thing is that when a chart rolls over, you can have the drawings updated to the new symbol. If you select the Chart >> Perform Futures Symbol Rollover you will see an option for Also Rollover Chart Drawing Symbols. Enabling this when you perform the rollover will change the symbol on the drawings so they can be viewed in the new contract.

If you forget to do this, you can always select Update Chart Drawings to Current Symbol. Refer to the following:
Chart Menu: Update Chart Drawings to Current Symbol (Chart menu)

-----

Another possibility is simply that the price has changed enough that the drawings are no longer visible. Check the Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings Window to see if the drawings are still there and not visible, or if they are actually gone for some reason.

-----

If it appears to be something else, then the first place to start is the Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings Window and whether the drawings are actually present or not. If not, then you will need to determine why they have been deleted.

Thank you for responding to this, however these things were already in place. Today another day where the drawings from the parent chart do not appear on the child chart. It it so arbitrary. As I pointed out, I don't make changes to these charts except to draw zones and rollover ES symbol which isn't that often. If there is anything else you might know to stop the shifting sands beneath my feet with these charts I would really appreciate it. Thanks again, AW

If you can attach the chartbook that has this issue showing then we can take a look and see if we can figure out what is occurring. Just let us know the chart that had the original drawing, and what kind of drawing, and the chart to which it is being copied. Refer to the following for how to attach a chartbook:

The file did upload, the reason you got that message was because you selected Upload again when there was no file selected.

All you needed to do was to close that window and then submit the reply and it would have attached the file. Please try again.

Removing the drawings from the child charts shows that they are referencing a completely different chart that I cannot find in the chart book. On Monday I will upload the chart book before I manually add the zones to the child charts so that I can trade. Thank you for sticking with this.

Thank you for that tip. I was able to locate that difficult to find chart. It is linked to a chart that does not show up on that list. Before I unlink and create a different problem I am asking.

All charts will be listed in Windows and Chartbooks. If it is not listed it does not exist.

Chart 23 is the parent I draw on. Charts #3, #7, #1 and the DOMs are the children charts I want the levels to appear on. Unless I put #16 in the Advanced Settings 2 then the drawings do not appear on the children. I never look at or draw on Chart 16. Thank you for looking this over. A Warren

The situation we see is the following:

You have chart #23 set to copy drawings from Chart #16. You then have Chart #1 set to copy drawings from Chart #23
16 -> 23
23 -> 1

But, drawings do not copy in a trickle down fashion, so the drawings from Chart 16 that are on Chart 23 will not show on Chart 1.

Therefore, if you are looking at all the drawings on Chart 23 and wondering why they are not on Chart 1, this is because those drawings were copied from Chart 16 to begin with.

I am not creating drawings of any type on Chart 16, I never even look at it. All of my drawings originate on 23. This is why I am confused.

Before I go, do you know how to split the day session from the globex session on Chart 23 so that I have different profiles for each on each day? I have been unable to find that setting in your support index or on the knowledgebase. Thanks again.

To have a separate Volume by Price for the Day and Evening sessions you would need to set the Input for Use Separate Profile for Evening Session to Yes. Refer to the following:

I cannot find that setting in Chart/Settings and the support link doesn't show where that setting is. Do you have screen shots for these? I've looked at every option in the settings panel and read the links but they aren't showing me where to make these changes.

The Input we reference above is for the Volume by Price study. We thought you were asking how to display both Day and Evening Session profile. Therefore, that item is on the Volume by Price Settings window. Refer to the following:
Chart Studies: Study Settings Window

If you were wanting something else, then please give us some additional information on what exactly you are looking to do.
