Hi,

Im currently looking into options for trading stocks with Sierra. So far TD Ameritrade was looking like the best option but I read that their data feed / API is proprietary and that concerns me.

Please could someone from Sierra explain to me how changes are handled between Ameritrade and Sierra. If Ameritrade changes something then does Sierra know about it ahead of time so that you can ensure the relevant updates are made on your side? Or are you (and us) left hanging?

If any TD Ameritrade clients are reading this, how has your experience been using TDA and Sierra?

Lastly, are there any broker/data feed options supported with Sierra that are not proprietary? (im specifically looking for Stocks,...not futures)

thanks.

Curious what you think of this brokerage:
tradier.com

They contacted us several months ago about a supporting their trading services. We told him to adopt the DTC protocol. We also suggested a middle solution where we make some changes to adapt the DTC protocol to an HTTP XML type of model and they could follow that.

For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, *change* to the Teton service:

Thanks I will check them out.

In the mean time please could you advise on my questions from the 1st post:
- Are updates to TD Ameritrade communicated to Sierra ahead of time so that you can implement the necessary changes? Or is it more of a case of finding out something has changed after it has already been done.
- Do all the stock broker/data feed providers that you are partnered work this way (ie: proprietary API)? If all your partnered Stock brokers operate this way, then of course ill just go ahead with TDA.

Im just looking to make an informed decision before signing up for a live account with TD Ameritrade. Always watch risk first ;)

Many thanks.

TD Ameritrade would notify us if they were to make significant changes to their HTTP API which would require changes on our side.

They really have not changed it much in the last 10 years. Our impression is, is that development for the most part has ceased with it.

Eventually , maybe this year, will be changing it to a FIX interface.

Interfaces to external Data and Trading services are always somewhat proprietary even if they use FIX.
