Hi,

I'm using a 5 Range bar chart and there area lot bars that are more that 5 ticks.
In the example attached their is a range bar is 9 ticks.

I had tried all the various Range bat setting (Standard, True, New Bar on Range Met etc)

If I "delete and download data" it doesn't help.

Regards,

The linked image shows what we see, which is that the bars are look fine, and that particular bar is showing correctly.

Have you selected Edit >> Delate All Data and Download? As opposed to selecting the option on the right-pointer click, as this will remove all data from that chart and reload it.

Hi John

At that time that bar was 9 ticks.
I did attach a screenshot in my Original post to show this.

I have noticed this for the last few weeks.
My trading strategy is based off a 5 range bar, to reload the data it would be too late

Remove all the studies from the chart and see if the reason the bar "appears" to be at 9 ticks is due to a study.

Hi John,

I looked a littler closer and found a few more 9 tick range bars on a 5 Tick range chart.
This is after I "deleted and download data"

Did you remove all the studies from the chart? If you want, you can duplicate it and then remove the studies from the duplicate. We have seen this before where there is a study that is causing the bar to show further than it should.

If you duplicated the chart the previous time you sent us the chartbook, then we need to see your chartbook without removing anything from it. There is something setup to cause what you are seeing, but since it is not showing in the previous chartbook you sent us, then it must be in the original (hopefully).

Please attach the entire chartbook as it is by following these instructions:

This is very confusing, as your data does not match up to what you should be getting. For instance, there is a gap around 08:33:23 which should not be there.

We would like to get logged into your system and see if we can figure out what is occurring. Let us know a good time to call.

Also, please ensure that the phone number you have entered for your Sierra Chart account is correct at the following link, as that is the number we will call:

Found that the Intraday Storage Time Unit was set to 1 second. Changed it to 1 tick and deleted all data and redownloaded.

In terms of performance and high CPU usage, start at the following, although the entire page that contains this section has various information on performance:

Hi John,

After Intraday Storage Time Unit was changed to 1 Tick and redownlaoded, the 5 range bars look like 5 range bars :)

But I do a few gaps.

Please see attached screen shot

Dan

That is because you are using the Range Bar - True. Refer to the information here:
Chart Settings: Intraday Chart Bar Period >> Bar Period Type >> Range Per Bar - True (in ticks)

If you use the Standard Range Bar you will not have the gaps.

Actually, that is not it, at least not with regards to the specific gap you are seeing. We also see that gap when using the Range Bar. In this case, it is correct, as we see the same thing. It is how the data is. If you do not want to see the gap, then you would want to use one of the Gap Fill options. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Intraday Chart Bar Period >> Gap Fill (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Bar Period >> Intraday Chart Bar Period Settings menu)

Hi John,

If the gas is correct, then I'll leave it as is.
At least I have to confidence that it is correct.

Thanks for your help and Kind Regards,

It is correct, just something that happens with the Range Bars. But at least one of the previous ones you had, I could not reproduce when I was looking at it, which is why I was confused on this. But this last one I also see.

Hi John,

In your post #17 your suggestion was:

"In terms of performance and high CPU usage, start at the following, although the entire page that contains this section has various information on performance:
30.48 - Basic Steps to Resolve Performance Issue in Sierra_Chart"

A Question regarding this.

If I did a clean Sierra Chart downlaod to new folder, would that new download (factory) default setting met all of the steps outlined in "30.48 - Basic Steps to Resolve Performance Issue in Sierra_Chart"?

Kind Regards,

No definitely not, unless you are not doing anything with Sierra Chart other than looking at an empty main window.
