hi guys, I'm struggling in building the custom symbol I want. when I go with : 1*{AAPL-NQTV}+1*{MSFT-NQTV}+1*{AMZN-NQTV}+1*{TSLA-NQTV}+1*{GOOG-NQTV}+1*{GOOGL-NQTV}+1*{META-NQTV}+1*{NVDA-NQTV}+1*{PEP-NQTV}+1*{AVGO-NQTV}+1*{COST-NQTV}+1*{CMCSA-NQTV}+1*{CSCO-NQTV}+1*{ADBE-NQTV}+1*{TMUS-NQTV} => all is fine, even if it doesn't load any historical intraday data. as soon as I add go with 1 more symbol : 1*{AAPL-NQTV}+1*{MSFT-NQTV}+1*{AMZN-NQTV}+1*{TSLA-NQTV}+1*{GOOG-NQTV}+1*{GOOGL-NQTV}+1*{META-NQTV}+1*{NVDA-NQTV}+1*{PEP-NQTV}+1*{AVGO-NQTV}+1*{COST-NQTV}+1*{CMCSA-NQTV}+1*{CSCO-NQTV}+1*{ADBE-NQTV}+1*{TMUS-NQTV}+1*{INTC-NQTV} = graph display the red "error download" + Message Log start with continuous errors "Path and filename for intraday data file to long. File not opened" * : INTC-NQTV works perfectly fine when loaded alone * : I'm keeping the 1* in front of every symbols as i wish to assign a share factor to each symbol later on. Documentation on custom symbole seems to express the idea that there is no such limitation. is it related to Win10 filename limitations ? some help warmly welcomed, kind regards Reno |

There is a length limitation due to the file name length imposed by the operating system. However, it looks as though we are checking the length before we even attempt to create the file. So maybe the operating system could handle a longer length?. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. thank you for your feedback. after reading a little about Win10 max characters for filenames, it seems to be a max 260. there is a way to tell windows to go beyond that but apparently it's not reliable at all. best way would be to allow user to create a custom name for the custom symbol and to create the filename according to this value. do you think it would be possible to implement ? mega thank you Reno |

Yes that would make sense. However, this is another development item, something that is not simple, in addition to so much other development we have to do. So it is not anything that would happen anytime soon.
