Hi,

I am looking to get a recommendation for VPS and evaluate them.

What is the server address for Teton that i can ping to? How do i determine which VPS has faster service performance?

When i ping the servers i found in my message log, it keep getting timeout.

Any advise is appreciated.

You cannot ping the servers used by Teton because they are on a secure private network.

But the address is DS22.SierraCharts.com.

Not sure we can help regarding the VPS.

How can i test the performance of the VPS server without being able to ping? i know i can just put in live order and test it.

Are there any other way to measure how fast the order would through using the VPS in chicago vs just using my own pc in a different state?

Is the purpose of the VPS for automated trading? If you are just doing manual trading it would not make sense to use a VPS. Unless you want to keep your installation of Sierra Chart remote which is perfectly fine.

SC support,

Yes. I want to use VPS for automated trading. i am planning to use quite a bit of market orders so sub 1ms latency is what i am looking for.

There are various companies advertising the 1ms latency but i need to be able to validate it. Please advise on this.

Luigi,

Thank you for your response. i found this during my research as well but need to know how to test and verify the actual speed of the orders. I can always just test it live if there is no other way to know for sure.

There simply is not a way to validate the latency. At least not among the network that we use in that Aurora data center. Ask the VPS provider to tell you what server you can ping in that data center. That will give you some idea.
