SC spreadhseets return the following error: "INDEX WAS OUTSIDE THE BOUNDS OF THE ARRAY" what does this mean? Formula: {=IF(F3=0,"",IF(AND($H3=1,$f3="A"),INDEX($A3:$A$404,MATCH(MIN(IF(h3:h$404=1,$D3:D$404)),$D3:$D$404,-1)),IF(AND($H3=1,$F3="B"),INDEX($A3:$A$404,MATCH(MAX(IF(H3:H$404=2,$D3:D$404)),$D3:$D$404,} I am using the above formula copy and pasted 97 times on top of itself in 1 each cell of a column. Everything is constant in all the duplicates of the formula except for the following statements: IF(AND($H3=1,$f3="A", IF(AND($H3=1,$f3="B", the $h3=1 on both counts up sequentially to $h3=97 with each copy and pasted instance of the formula. Anyone know what is causing this error or how I can fix the syntax? |

OK. "INDEX WAS OUTSIDE THE BOUNDS OF THE ARRAY" means the following: In the case of the spreadsheet, and array would be a series of values. The first one in the series has an index of 0, assuming it is zero-based, and the last one has an index of the size of the array minus 1. So it is possible to reference any of the values within the array by using an integer index. As a general rule this error indicates that the index is less than zero or equal to the size or greater. OK, thank you for this explanation. Now it makes sense. I think it might work if certain arrays are defined with more specific rules somehow. maybe i play with it more..thanks
