Hi, I have issue on opening, where all screens in the Chartbooks load only some of the chart and display the above message eternally. I usually get by, by opening and closing SC a number of times before all data is loaded. I have some times run out of space on my machine and delete all old back ups of the Chartbooks, however they are constantly replaced. I am not sure if the issues are related? It looks like you have a lot of chartbooks and are loading a lot of data. You just need to wait for it to finish the process. Exiting Sierra Chart and restarting is not going to help. And if you are running out of disk space, then you need to look into the amount of data you are loading and find a way to limit it. Hi thanks but I tried first solutions above before and still it tries load all these old Chartbooks (see below from log), how do I get it to stop doing that (I have deleted the corresponding files off the drive), but they just get reloaded each time I start up SC. Also waiting for the process to complete does not help, I have left for 30mins and now I have chart that will only load data up until c.18:00 GMT yesterday 9th May. Hi - okay correction, the charts are fully loaded now, I let them play out and as you said they did finally load, so apologies for that. however, it keeps trying to load all these files, and creating backups of same on my drive at 1gb+ each, how can I stop this from happening. You have a Continuous Futures Chart for the ES among your charts, and that particular chart is set to load data back to 2007. You would need to find and adjust that particular chart (or possibly charts).

Thank you for the help here - I have tried to limit how far back a Continuous Future Chart goes back, I have googled to try find setting, but cannot see how to change this (I definitely don't need it back to 2007) so I am eager to change. Thanks, Frank. |

The way to change the amount of data for a Continuous Futures Contract Chart is the same as for any chart. You just set the Number of Days to Load or the Date Range (whichever you are using) to values that do not go that far back. These items on at Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting. If you want to turn off the Continuous Contract all together, then that is the Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Continuous Contract. Bravo John. I found the culprit with your help - I had already reviewed Date Range and Number of Days to Load when I initially ran into this issue, all looked okay, however I took another look and noticed one of my charts had Date Range checked but no values for the Date fields (this was culprit) - I updated to number of days, and my chart book loaded up in record speed and I am no longer killing my hard drive loading data back to 2007. Thank you so much for continuing to help with this. |

This is not an error, it is just a message telling you that the data is downloading. You have to wait for the data to fully download. If you are requesting a large amount of data, then it can take awhile to get it all. There are a number of factors that go into how long it will take, including how much data, the speed of your Internet connection, and the storage time unit selected. There are times where we have heard of it taking a few hours, depending on your settings. If you feel like there is an issue, then open a single chart for just a few days worth of data and see if you can get it to load without issue. Then move forward from there.
