Can I add same studies from different time frames onto one DOM?

Hello,

I have been on NT8 for many years and am now looking at Sierra Charts as an alternative option.

Could you let me know if it's possible to have the same studies added multiple time to the DOM, however each study is set to a different time frame?

For example, can we have the 5, 10, and 15min MA plotted on the DOM, and have each one its own unique color?

Here's an example of what mine looks like on NT8: https://ibb.co/hMjBn7P

(The brown, yellow, and green lines are moving averages from 3 different time frames)

Also, are we able to add the bollinger bands on the DOM as well?

Thank you.

Hello,

The first thing is that it is possible to use a Trading DOM or the Chart DOM.

We like the Chart DOM since it can be more flexible depending upon what you are doing.
To open the Chart DOM you start with a chart then select Trade > Trading Chart DOM On.

For example, can we have the 5, 10, and 15min MA plotted on the DOM, and have each one its own unique color?

The bar period for a chart can only be set to one period but in SC it's not hard to do what you are saying.

Have a look at Period OHLC-Variable Period. "This study calculates and displays lines for the Open, High, Low, and Close (OHLC) values from the previous or current specified time period, on each bar in the chart."
Previous/Period OHLC-Variable Period

What you would do is add one or more instances of that study to your chart and set the period type and length.
Then add study Moving Average - Simple and then choose Based On: Period OHLC-Variable Period.

It would help to type the Short Name for each study to not get confused between the bar periods you overlay.

The colors are set in the Subgraphs tab for each individual study. If you want the study name or value to show on the price scale you can enable the Name Label and Value Label.

If this method doesn't give accurate values another option is Price/Study Overlay. Try this method first as it will be more lightweight.

Also, are we able to add the bollinger bands on the DOM as well?

Not sure about the Trading DOM but Chart DOM yes.

The answer is yes to all of your questions. If you want to add a study to a Chart or Trading DOM, based upon a particular timeframe different than where it is displayed, then use this study:
Study/Price Overlay Study

Thank you! I will spend some time configuring the options... seems like SC is extremely customizable, very impressive.
