Noticed an issue with the Modeless Settings Window where chart changes are not updated into an open settings window. Repro: Open settings for a chart. Set chart to 15 minute via the settings. Apply All. From the CHART, use keyboard and type "60m <enter>" to change the chart to 60 minutes. (see also: Changing Chart Bars Period) (this also applies to using control bar buttons as well) Alt-Tab, or click and make the settings window active/focused. NOTICE that the Bar Period is still 15 minute. If you did not have your settings window on Bar Period, you may not notice this, and change something else, and Apply All changes the chart back to 15m undoing the previous change(s) you made from the chart. One suggestion is that the Settings Windows reload data from the chart when they get focus. You could also say "don't do that" and close the Settings Window if you intend to change chart settings outside the Settings Window. This of course raises the question of ever keeping a Settings Window open (which defeats some of the utility of the modeless operation). It also creates an issue where you have changes in settings, change the chart (accidentally or on purpose) and they settings are not in sync. The chart should be the source of truth. Settings could/should reload. The settings window could keep track of the pending changes not applied and users can still see the changes if they hit apply. Or as a best practice, never use Apply All, or perhaps, if you ever intend to tab away from the Settings Window, one should Close it to avoid problems like this. This was never an issue with the Model settings window of the past. Sierra Chart Engineering, what are your thoughts here? |

We did not consider this. We will work out a solution to this. In general these new type of Settings Windows are designed to automatically update as the variables change. This may require though additional implementation in Chart Settings and certain types of settings may require different methods of detection of changes.
