https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=16483976314.png Hello SC Team, As can be seen in the chart, the blue rectangles which are drawing the 4-hour chart, seem to just float in space on the Daily. I think I understand why this may occur. I spent years using MT4/MT5, cTrader, JForex and TradingView. SierraChart is a much more powerful tool and application than any of these competing applications. However, in this one respect, all of the other competitors handle this issue without a problem, while it is a constant struggle with SC. When drawing objects on any time frame in these other applications, the object always links up to the nearest candle on the "slave" time frame charts. We do not get the issue of floating or moving drawings. It is unusual to find anything that SierraChart cannot do better than its competitors. This is why I hope the SC Team can prioritize a request to resolve this issue. The easiest solution would be, I think, to allow the users to define which time frames of price any object can be viewed on. This way, a user can choose to make certain rectangles visible on the 4Hr down to the 50-Trades, while other objects may be visible on All timeframes. This too is the normal user experience in all of the competing projects, even the terrible MT4/MT5 has included this capability built in for many years. This is related to the following request: Visibility for chart drawings tools text etc. on certain timeframes only The issue is a cause for delay and frustration for traders who use multi-timeframe markups. I still believe that SC is light years beyond its competitors in almost every other aspect of trading, including speed, reliability, replay functionality, and flexibility. Unfortunately, the lack of these capabilities which are so common among all the competitors is a serious impediment to chart markups and a major gap in SC's usability. Thank you for putting an otherwise stellar application together, and I hope to hear back regarding a timeframe on when or if this may be rectified. Mike Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-03-27 16:31:45

This only pertains to part of your post, but did you read this - https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Tools.html#DateTimeMapping? Suggest setting 'When Mapping Chart Drawings to Bars, Use Nearest Match Instead of Containing Match' to no (found in tool settings window). |

Thank you for your response. Yes, I do use that feature, but it does not correct for the above issue. All of my charts are set to "Use Nearest Match." Thank you though! Hopefully, the SC Team will address this. Mike |

All of my charts are set to "Use Nearest Match."
So clearly you didn't read what I wrote, as I said set that to 'no', so that containing match is used, not nearest match.Nearest Match: The Date and Time of a Chart Drawing point is mapped to the bar with the nearest matching Date and Time. For example, if a Chart Drawing point has a time of 10:14, in a 5 min. chart this drawing point will be mapped to the 10:15, not the 10:10 bar since the 10:15 bar is the nearest match. Containing Match: The Date and Time of a Chart Drawing point is mapped to the bar which contains this Date and Time. The time of each bar in a chart is its starting time. For example, if a Chart Drawing point has a time of 10:14, in a 5 minute per bar chart, this drawing point will be mapped to the 10:10 bar since it contains the times between 10:10:00 and 10:14:59. Quote above take from page - Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Drawing Date and Time Mapping Can you see why nearest match would create exactly the problem you describe in your initial post? |
