Hi, after the huge investing in Denali and Teton we can go a step further to cut the latencies down when trading at the EUREX in Frankfurt. SC + EdgeClear have promised that the risks checks are done at SC servers, so no network traffic should go outside Frankfurt when trading. The EUREX main feed and matching engine are in Equinix FR2 datacenter, so the best case is doing colocation there. Unfortunately this is the hottest datacenter in Frankfurt and i haven't find a high quality vendor which offers dedicated servers there. But there are a lot of other datacenter in town, which offering some interesting server rentals starting from 120€/Month. It's quite nice and i'm grabbing the ping and traceroute results from each vendor to get an idea from their connection to the FR2 datacenter. Current best offer are 1.5-2ms with 4-5 hops to Eurex - really nice. But the standard deviation of the ping times are not that good. With my old setup from a server in Paris i got 20-50 times lower standard deviations. It's quite clear, because FRA datacenter are optimized for highest throughput and high bandwidth. My question to SC is: Because you are hosting your server at Eurex already, is there a plan that you will sell dedicated server too? You can own a full rack and sell/rent 1U single server to your customer. All self managed. If you use a public vendor - which one? My general question to Users: Do you already use colocation or dedicated server rental at a datacenter in Frankfurt? How is the connectivity? Regards Marco |

Regarding the 6000 to 12000€ monthly cost to enable teton order routing to Eurex you should really take my initial post into account. Keep your customers happy providing more services, then they will pay you for the convenience. 200 to 300€/month is not uncommon.

It is very expensive to have co-location in Frankfurt 2. Minimum of 2500 USD a-month. Do you already use colocation or dedicated server rental at a datacenter in Frankfurt? How is the connectivity? We do not rent a server. We own a server there, and it is with Equinix.

Thanks for your Answer. Can i kindly ask if the 2500 USD/month is for an single 1U rack space? That would be really expensive. I assume that it's for an 1/4 rack and for all of your server (4-6 servers). I need an single 1U rack space- or with an dedicated server to rent. I don't think that i can directly buy one 1U rack slot from equinix, so i have to find and trust a vendor which is offering single unit rack space or dedicated server to rent in FR2. I've got ping and Traceroute statistics from Beeks Group, which claims to have their servers in FR2. The results are less convincing, due to 8 hops in between and i think that the traffic goes outside FR2. It makes no sense to a vendor, which is dedicated to traders if he don't use any kind of interconnection or pairing and let the packets go outside the Eurex castle. There are vendors in other frankfurt datacenter which are using shorter paths to the EUREX server (in comparision to Beeks). If all fails, that would be the next good setup for me (100..200Euro/Month for full featured dedicated server to rent). I have one open inquiry to EOTPRO, which also offers dedicated Serves in FR2 and are specialized to traders. From my vendor test results all routes ending at x.edge4.Frankfurt1.Level3.net before entering the server at equinix. Do you use any kind of additional interconnection or pairing to shorten the path to the eurex datafeed and order gateway?] But i think you already are in the equinix net and utilizing an short path and low latency to the eurex servers. Thanks, Marco |

Can i kindly ask if the 2500 USD/month is for an single 1U rack space? Yes but this is through a service provider who has space with equinix and they also provide networking infrastructure. If we went direct, for a small amount of space, not sure we could do any better.Do you use any kind of additional interconnection or pairing to shorten the path to the eurex datafeed and order gateway?] Currently we only have a cross connect to EUREX for market data and it is direct. It is within the data center, with direct physical connectivity into the Deutsche Borse T7 network.

Hi, is there a pingable IP address which the SC Client is connected to when trading at Eurex (Denali or Teton interface)? Thanks, Marco |

We apologize for the delay. No there is not an IP you can ping for our infrastructure in Frankfurt.

Hi Again, the sole german based broker who can handle the goverment regulations is WHSelfinvest. He is not the broker with the strongest SC support yet. So i hope i can utilize EUREX data via Teton and order routing with CQG in that setup. Can you confirm that Frankfurt is the best possible location for a server, due to the main traffic is data feed based? I could also go to London, which would be nearer to the CQG order routing engine. Thanks, Marco |

Yes you can use CQG for order routing and the Denali Data Feed for EUREX data: Denali Exchange Data Feed We would think anywhere in Germany should be fine: Can you confirm that Frankfurt is the best possible location for a server, due to the main traffic is data feed based?
