What is the chat window designed for and when will it work?

It is for chat with other Sierra Chart users. It is ready now but use version 2347 which will be coming out today.

Although the feature is not yet documented.

I was happy to read that this was ready; however, I updated to 2353 today, & it opens, & it apparently connects- but none of the other buttons seem to do anything. Taking note that there wasn't yet documentation, I went to the Control Panel to see if I needed to add the users I share studies with by that means.

In conclusion, it doesn't seem to be functional yet.

I opened it for the first time today, it's blank. I guess it is still a work in progress

It is not a work in progress, it can be used. It is blank because you have not used it at all.

Select New Chat on the window and then enter another user's Account Name to search for and if they have their name available then it will show up and you can start the chat.

Hi John, Glad to see this is coming to SC users. Would we have access to SC Support via chat for live account/trade, platform configuration and payment related time-sensitive issues?

Also / in documentation, kindly include recommendation on whether to run this Chat service via the main instance or secondary instance to avoid any performance degradation during live trading session.

No it is not used at this time for support purposes just for chat between users.

It will be used at some point for support once remote control and screen sharing is added.

Chat runs in a separate thread so it has no performance impacts upon the main thread and charting and trading:
whether to run this Chat service via the main instance or secondary instance to avoid any performance degradation during live trading session.

It is also designed to be efficient. Although perfectly fine to run it in another instance.
