Hello, I wanted to report a possible bug with the BAR TIME DURATION study. If I apply a FILTER VOLUME <=1 in the chart setting the BAR TIME DURATION indicator becomes "flat". The attached picture explains better than my terrible english :) Both charts are GC G22 100 volume bars - The left one without filters, the right one with the volume filter Exclude <=1. |

What you see must be correct. There is no problem here. Really is impossible there would be as long as the timestamps at the bottom of the chart are correct.

I can't understand why by removing the "size 1 trades" the 100 volume bars magically all become of the same duration. what am I not understanding? |

This is not within the scope of our support. You need to analyze the data. This is your responsibility.

Volume bars have a different duration as each bar is filled with a different volume rate. An obvious example is the opening of the US market where volume bars are formed very quickly. (And the histograms get smaller and smaller) Applying the volume filter "exlude <=1" to the chart the volume bars all have (almost) the same duration, which makes no sense. If I'm not missing something technical, it looks like a bug to me. (or at least I don't understand why) I don't want to get pushy, I just don't understand. |

It is completely impossible for there to be a problem. What you see must be correct. It is not our responsibility to say anything more.

This section here will answer the question: Number Of Trades, Volume or Range Bar Charts Do Not Match Setting or Are Not Accurate or Are Inconsistent: Effect of Missing Number of Trades or Volume Data You should not be doing volume filtering for chart bars based upon volume. They instead can be based upon a fixed amount of time as explained. We still maintain there is no issue with the Bar Time Duration. There simply could not be. The study and the bar building must be correct but the link above explains why you would see what you do. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
